Hi I'm Evan

I grew up in a small town, learned to love work and learning from my parents, have 8 kids and a beautiful wife, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like learning and knowing how things work - as a result I'm always tinkering with things and also have five college degrees and also enjoy welding and carpentry. We're also learning how to raise cows and pigs and growing a garden. I love my family and spending time with them, most of our eight children are now grown and making their way. Our two youngest are in Jr. High and High School and have been a real joy now that we are not so stressed as parents. My best friend is my wife and my favorite animal is our little farm dog Daphnie...a tiny shorkie.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who had embraced Mormonism and grew up in the church. When I was in my teens, I faced many challenges and difficulties that caused me to want to know for myself about God, His priesthood and His ordinances. Through study, fasting, pondering and prayer I came to know for myself that the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the LDS Church (the Mormon's) is true. I have read the Bible and the Book of Mormon many times and have grown to love their simple teachings. The peace I feel from knowing that I am a son of God, that He loves me and that we can return to live with Him as families has always been one of my most treasured thoughts. Whenever times get difficult I am grateful that I can seek His help through prayer and the scriptures. I'm far from perfect and know that the members of the chruch are also learning and growing but see every day how being a member of this church helps be learn, grow and become a better person.

How I live my faith

I look for opportunities every day to help someone, especially someone who is feeling low. In my profession, I can also provide some services free of charge and look for individuals who could benefit from this help. I enjoy donating my time whenever I can and am currently working with the 14-15 year old boys in our ward, meeting with them several times each week and helping them organize monthly activities and campouts. It's a blessing to find ways to serve. But my greatest opportunity comes in trying to be a better husband and father. The gospel helps me remember who I am, the special blessing my wife and companion represents and the significant responsibility I have as father to our children.
