Hi I'm Sheryl

I'm a stay at home mom with 4 kids. I like to quilt and listen to alternative rock. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as an Air Force "brat" with 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters. We moved around a lot but always here in the states. As adults our families are scattered all across the country. My parents, gratefully, are still around. We have family reunions every 2 years. I received my A.A. from a community college. If my circumstances change I might go back and finally get a Bachelor’s degree. I married my best friend. In fact I was on a date with someone else when I decided to stop dating and wait till my best friend would come around to the idea. Our oldest daughter has graduated from college but my 3 teenagers are still at home. While they are at school I like to make quilts. I like to piece them together and then put them on my mid arm frame and quilt them myself. I'm still learning but love it. I don’t read often but when I do I love to read biographies, particularly auto-biographies. I love to learn about people. I love their stories of growth and learning. My all-time favorite auto-biography is “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers”. This is the book that, “The Sound of Music” was based on. I love musicals too. My favorite rock band is “U2”. I frequently listen to alternative rock such as; The Killers, Neon Trees, Green Day and others. My kids tell me to turn down my music sometimes.

Why I am a Mormon

I may have grown up Mormon, but I made a conscience choice as an adult to stay a Mormon. As a child we moved around a lot and it helped to know that no matter where we lived the church we attended was always the same. The beliefs, teachers, classmates, how we dressed, even the buildings were similar. As an adult I came to realize that the belief system I was taught as a child really is true; Jesus is the Savior, I am a Child of God, the Holy Ghost has guided me throughout my life, Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, The Book of Mormon is wonderful to read and is a true account of the people here in the America’s.

How I live my faith

I volunteer a lot with my church. I make visits to 3 "assigned friends" every month. It’s fun to get to know someone I wouldn’t normally have picked out to get to know. I also receive an "assigned friend" every month. Currently another thing I volunteer is as the “Compassionate Service Coordinator”. When I hear of someone who is sick, had surgery, having a baby, or just depressed or blue, or make sure that their needs are taking care of.
