Hi I'm Kathy

I'm a Mormon. I am married, have 7 children and 15 grandchildren. I am working on a master’s degree.

About Me

I grew up on a farm and I like to be outdoors working in my flower gardens, walking, swimming, or riding bike. I love mountain streams and sunsets. I also love being by the ocean and looking at the stars on a clear night. My dad's ancestor are from Denmark and my Mom's parents were born in Scotland. I am married, we have seven grown children. Our youngest child is 25 and has Downs Syndrome: he is living at home with us. We have fifteen amazing grandchildren who are the light of our life! I have a degree in Interior Design; I enjoy decorating and helping my friends decorate their homes. Presently I am working on a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership.

Why I am a Mormon

First of all, I was born in this church, but that is not the whole reason I am a Mormon. At an early age I studied and prayed to know if Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet and if the Book of Mormon is the word of God. After many days of searching a praying, I had a warm feeling that started in my heart and radiated through my entire soul. I knew then as I know now that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that the Church of Jesus Christ, the same on that He established when He was on the earth, is restored through Joseph Smith. The priesthood, or authority to act in the name of Jesus Christ as He gave it to Peter, James and John is on the earth today. I have continued to study the doctrines of this church though out my life and I have found them to be consistent with the teachings in the Old and New Testament. I have come to understand that the scriptures are the word of God. I know if we follow the His teachings, have faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and receive the ordinances of the Priesthood we can have eternal life. I am a Mormon because I love the Lord and the Mormon life style. My greatest joy is serving the Lord. I love my family and my greatest desire is to be united with them when we are in heaven after this earth life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping the commandments, praying and having faith in the Lord. I serve in my church calling which is teaching Young Women ages 16-18. I attend church every Sunday and the temple as often as possible. I try to stay in tune with the spirit so that I may feel the promptings of the spirit in my life. I keep the word of wisdom, which is no coffee, tea, alcohol, tobacco, and eating healthy. I am a compassionate and loving person, and I like to serve people. I read from the scriptures daily and try to put their teachings into practice. I honor my marriage covenant. I took my role seriously to teach and train my children and now I get to enjoy my grandchildren. I honor the priesthood and do my best to align myself with Preisthood council.
