Hi I'm David

I grew up in Utah I'm a husband, father and a Grandpa and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In my adult life I have been a soldier, a teacher, a laborer, an engineering soil technician, tax examiner, ware-houseman, accounting technician, payroll clerk, and am now a business analyst. I've also done some writing and some acting but never for pay. I've done lots of different jobs sometimes two at the same time but they all have been to support the only meaningful job I have ever had. The other things only trade time for money but my lifetime career as Dad is trading life for happiness and keeping both.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church and grew up believing. But I have not just leaned on the testimony of others. I have tested the teachings in my life and found in them happiness. Over the last fifty plus years the Lord has confirmed and strengthened me through experience. Things that I have wondered at have become things of wonder to me. I have come to know that Jesus Christ lives and is aware of each of us. The joy that comes from being engaged in His work is abiding.

How I live my faith

In my local area I work with the full time missionaries. I have the chance to give them a ride, or go with them as they teach people who are asking about the church. Because of the joy the Gospel of Jesus Christ is to me I am happy to assist in this work. I also teach a Sunday school class and visit the homes of some of the other members in my congregation to share gospel messages and offer service to them.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

We usually wear our "Sunday best" to meetings. It shows respect for the Lord and for each other. We would never think of attending a business meeting unless we were in our business clothes and it carries over that to church you should show the same respect. Having said that if all someone has is jeans and t-shirt I've never seen them treated less for that. We would rather share our love of Christ with others than worry how they are dressed. We celebrate most of the standard Holidays that others do. Often we will share a holiday with a meal and time to be together. Possibly have a short entertainment form own talents. We enjoy music and have a decent sense of humor. At Christmas and Easter we often spend time in private contemplation and family bonding. My family has a 4 day holiday each summer named for my wife and I. We go someplace, camp, see the sites, remember around the campfire. We do the things others do. We go to movies, perhaps more selectively than the general population. We love live performances of music and plays. We also love the outdoors. Show more Show less
