Hi I'm Jackie

I'm a Mormon. Family, Music, & the Church define who I am. My husband & I loved teaching in Qingdao, China for the Church.

About Me

I love doing anything that is creative - composing/arranging music - (piano & choral), painting, sewing, decorating, & Photoshop! I was a part-time college instructor for over 20 yrs. while raising our 3 children. I've had my own Interior Design business for the past 23 years. I'm now enjoying the twilight years (some say "golden years" - I think "rusty" is more appropriate!) with my best friend - whom I married 50 years ago! He's also a musician - a very good one! Together, we enjoy golfing (we live near a lake and 3 golf courses!), friends, family & 9 grandchildren (who all live too far away!), music ( that's actually what got us together in Highschool!) & gardening. Life is very, very good!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was barely 5 yrs. old, my father & I were enjoying a relaxing evening on the patio when a shooting star flew across the heavens. I remember vividly how I felt as my father explained to me in simple terms the order of the universe - how the earth would burn up if it were too close to the sun; it would freeze if too far away - life couldn't exist here. There had to be a supreme being who had planned, organized, and prepared this earth for us. Although I had always felt close to my Heavenly Father even at such a young age, this is my earliest memory of an actual, logical, yet spiritual testimony that I could put into words. I can very gratefully say the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ have always been at the very core of my being. I have never doubted nor questioned the truth of that simple, yet profound lesson learned so long ago. The Gospel has formed my life, influenced every righteous decision I've made, every action I've taken. Without it, my life would seem empty! It puts into perspective the importance of family, the importance of making correct and honorable choices, the importance of striving to be the best I can be as a daughter of God, my Heavenly Father. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be sealed in the Temple of the Lord to my husband and family for eternity. I have so much to look forward to, yet have so much to enjoy along the way!

How I live my faith

I have taught adults in the Church for many years. Selfishly, I admit I love teaching because it makes me study more fervently and diligently than I would probably otherwise do! I've also enjoyed being an organist for over 50 years and directing many choirs and productions. The Church affords us with so many opportunities to nourish talents and interests - to grow through participation at any and every age. My Church is not just a place I go to worship on Sundays. My religion is my way of life - it is the way I choose to live - the way I enjoy living. It answers all questions as to where I came from, why I’m here, and where I may go. It truly does define who I am. I feel so blessed to be a part of it.
