Hi I'm Suzy

I grew up in the Canal Zone in Panama. I am a senior manager in a large corporation. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My mother is from Panama and my dad is from Ohio. I grew up with 6 brothers and sisters. We were all born in the space of 9 years - you can imagine what life growing up was like! However, now I am grateful that I have 6 brothers and sisters. I especially love that I have 20 nieces and nephews.  I love the beauty of the outdoors. I love animals. I have always had a one dog as long as I can remember. They are great companions and friends. When I am not working, I am laughing with friends, playing games, hanging out with family, and going on long walks. I also manage to catch the latest movies with my nieces and nephews.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It has always been a part of my life. As I have grown older and faced some of the challenges we face in this life, the teachings of my church have been the stabilizing force in my life. There is so much hope in the Gospel. The cool thing is I don't have to wonder each day what to do with my life. I know where I want to be and what I need to do to get there. Life has more meaning than going to work each day and doing the routine things. We have so much more to discover. One thing I have learned in my life is that people will let you down because we are all human. But Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ won't. During the saddest times of my life, I have felt the love and peace that comes from a loving Heavenly Father. The Book of Mormon brings so much peace and comfort. When I read this book, and I try to read from it everyday, I feel renewed. I feel like I can meet the challenges that will present themselves each day. I learn from the experiences of the people in this book. This book helps me to understand better the dealings of God and how He interacts with His children - you and me. I know He loves us and wants what's best for us.

How I live my faith

The first thing I do each morning is pray. Then I read from the scriptures - the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I tried to make courtesy a part of me. I believe that showing kindness is what the Savior would do if He was here. I think about Him and try to do what He would do. It is sometimes hard but it is what I try to do every day. I also look for opportunities to help or lift others - sometimes it's just a smile. I work with the cub scouts. It is such a great experience getting to work with other adults who are trying to help these boys learn skills that will help them to develop into fine young men. These boys have so much energy and they are so eager to learn. I love the opportunity to work with them and see them learn.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes. We believe the Bible contains the word of God. It is a history of the people who lived in the Old World. It contains God's dealings with His people. The words contained in this book are revelations received from God. They were written by holy men, prophets, who were inspired by the Holy Ghost. We believe the Book of Mormon to be a history of the people who lived in the New World or the Americas. The words in this book were revealed in the same way as the Bible. The Lord inspired prophets to write the words of this book. The Book of Mormon supports the teachings in the Holy Bible. Show more Show less
