Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a wife and mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife and mother. I enjoy canning, cooking, baking, sharing recipes and looking for new ways to be self-sufficient. My absolute favorite way to enjoy the outdoors is on a bicycle. I like snowboarding, wakeboarding, playing tennis, off-roading, camping and doing anything or nothing with my family. Music is a big part of my family's life. At a young age my kids have picked up on the lyrics to music like Death Cab for Cutie, Jack Johnson and The Killers. Adventures and risk taking don't scare me but I do stay awake at night and think of ways I can be a better wife and mother. I have worked full-time, part-time and have been a stay-at-home Mom. Currently I stay home and try my best everyday. This gig is not easy but it is the most rewarding and fulfilling job I have ever had. My husband and I have made sacrifices so that I can stay home. I am so thankful for my family and friends, I treasure them and consider them to be a gift.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in Southern California. I went to a private christian school. As a very young child, I could almost always be found carrying my "blankie" and my Holy Bible. My family teased me for always wanting to pray and read the word of God but from a young age, I could feel it was right. I didn't feel that all of my questions were answered regarding the next life. When I was 16, I met the missionaries and took the discussions. In a short amount of time, I was baptized. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because of the comfort, peace-of-mind and guidance that it provides. I have known darkness in this life and have felt despair, loneliness and sorrow as I tried to make sense of things on my own. This gospel has given me new life and continues to revitalize the lens through which I see the world. The Plan of Salvation gives me hope. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, I have felt His comfort, guidance and can personally attest that The Atonement is real. Forgiveness is possible and is life-changing. Heavenly Father loves us and I have felt the powerful effects of His love through living the gospel and studying His scriptures daily. It is a blessing to be a member of this church and to know that my Savior loves me and wants me to come unto Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading my scriptures everyday. Just as I nourish myself physically with food, I feel it is important to nourish myself spiritually by reading even just a few scriptures. I strive to be obedient to the commandments for I know they bring happiness and protection. As a family, we pray together. This helps us to make our gratitude, concerns and goals vocal and to seek divine assistance in the matters we need it most. It is a gateway for us to speak with our Heavenly Father and feel His comfort. We hold a family night once a week, we sing, play and learn together. We eat dinner as a family together every day. Sometimes it's grand, other times it's pizza. On Sundays, I am an advisor to the sweetest girls, 12 and 13 year-olds. I love the perspective they bring to our conversations, I feel so lucky to serve with them. I also help to plan the women's monthly "enrichment" meetings. We get together to strengthen one another as we learn new skills. I visit 3 women and their families every month. It is a privilege. I help out in my children's classrooms and at their schools. I try to be a good neighbor and look for ways to help out. I try to teach my children that Heavenly Father loves them and wants us to come to Him and rely on Him.
