Hi I'm Tim

I'm a Mormon. I was born in California, grew up in Utah, and now live in Arizona with my wife.

About Me

I am in my late 20's and am attending grad school. It's like a full time job and keeps me busy. When I am not in school or studying I love to spend time with my wife and puppy. I am the most lucky man in the world to be married to my wife. She is my whole world. I love her more than anything. She also lets me be me and follow my passions. Some of those passions include hunting, shooting, fishing, swimming and being outdoors. I also spend a lot of time watching football (more than l would like to admit, and definitely more than she approves of!) I try to have fun no matter what I am doing and try not to take things to seriously. After high school I went on a mission for the Church. It was one of the best times in life. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. Shortly after 2 years on a mission, I met and married the most wonderful woman in the world, which up to that point was the best day of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of two very big reasons. The first reason is that my prayers have been answered. I have asked God if this gospel was true and if this was His church and I received an answer that it is. But that experience isn't my only evidence. The more I learn about the gospel and God's plan for me, the more I learn how much God KNOWS me and LOVES me. It's amazing! The second reason is that I was lucky enough to have been born into a family with two very devoted and loving parents. I was able to learn from their example of what it means to be a christian. They taught me how to love and respect others and to treat them the way I wished to be treated. I felt the influence of God's love in my home when they would share their knowledge and love for the gospel with me and the rest of my family. I know that God knows who I am and loves me. I know that He loves all His children and because of that love has restored His church in our day through a Prophet. God has always used Prophets. He appeared to Joseph Smith, called him to be a Prophet and through him restored his gospel and established His church in our time. I know this is true. I know it is true because the Holy Spirit has confirmed it in my heart.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday for 3 hours. 3 hours might seem like a lot but when you put it in perspective, it is not very much at all. Since Sunday is entirely the Lord's day, 3 hours is just over 10% of the whole day, and being asked to go worship for only 3 hours is the least I can do. And it's not like it's a 3 hour sermon! Every hour is broken up into different lessons in different classes. Since no one is paid in the church for their service, we all get a chance to pitch-in and serve our fellow brothers and sisters. My wife and I were asked to serve in the Primary (Class for the kids from 4-12). We get to teach 5 year olds about the gospel every Sunday, which is incredibly fun. It is also amazing to learn from these little kids, their knowledge of the gospel is awe-inspiring and their innocence is just remarkable. Since Christ's whole life was spent serving other people, serving in the church is a wonderful way to become more like Jesus every day. The blessings in my own personal life from serving in the church and serving others are immeasurable.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

The purpose of this live is to prove we are worthy to return to live with our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ told Moses what His purpose was, which is "to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man" (Moses 1:39) In order for that to happen, Christ had to come to Earth, we needed a Saviour. He suffered for the sins of the world and made it possible for us to repent and receive forgiveness. He also died and was resurrected so we too could live again after we die. Immortality or living again after we die, is a free gift given to us through the grace of Jesus Christ because of his Resurrection. Forgiveness of our sins and receiving eternal life is possible through the Atonement, which was when Christ suffered for our sins, if we obey the laws of the gospel and keep the commandments including having Faith in Jesus Christ, repenting, being baptized by immersion by His authority, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. We show our love for God by keeping these commandments and receiving ordinances such as baptism to allow us to live in God's presence one day. Show more Show less
