Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a husband, father and kids education advocate. I'm an Engineer who loves sports and being with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Salt Lake City and have been a Mormon all my life. I have lived with my wife, 2 sons and a daughter in Auburn for almost 26 years. I like all sports but love football and baseball. I particular enjoy spending Friday nights at High School football games with my youngest son. I'm developing a love for soccer. I have been involved with the Boy Scouts for many years and both of my sons are Eagle Scouts. I served a mission to Spain but unfortunately have forgotten most of my Spanish. I love to read and travel with my wife. We also enjoy movies, especially Star Wars and Harry Potter. My oldest son and daughter were both married this spring and my youngest son graduated from High School. My wife and I are looking forward to this new chapter of our lives called empty nesters and seeing where it leads.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon because of the blessings it brings into my life. No where else have I been able to feel the peace and joy that being a Mormon brings me. Having the knowledge that the heavens are not closed and that our Father in Heaven speaks with a living prophet brings me such comfort. We have a living prophet today, Thomas S. Monson who talks with our Heavingly Father just like Moses, Noah or Abraham. It is through the scriptures and the words of a living prophet that he tells us what we need to do in order to be happy and feel the joy that he wants for us. I know my Heavenly Father knows me and loves me intimately. I know that he wants us to be happy and it is through obedience to his commandments that we feel true happiness. The Holy Ghost has confirmed to my soul that the Book of Mormon is true. It is a second testament to the divinity of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

A lot of people believe that living your religion is hard. I've found it just the opposite. It's easy to have faith, love your family, look for opportunities to help others and be a good person. We all face challenges and trials in our lives and it is in those moments that we show who we really are. As you understand the commandments and teachings of living prophets, you need to decide ahead of time what you will do in certain situations. When the Holy Ghost prompts you to leave a party or activity where you uncomfortable, you just do it. If you have made a decision not to drink or smoke, it's easy to say no when these things are offered. Service is a big part of our faith and you get such a feeling of joy and satisfaction when you are helping others. Helping clean up a neighborhood park, helping a neighbor put a new roof on his house, or joining with others to do yard work for an elderly couple are simple ways to provide service. I work with young single adults and they are great examples to me. They have so much enthusiasm for what is ahead. They are working, going to school, dating and still living the standards that they have committed to. They are a great example to me of how easy it is to live my faith.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Ryan
We believe that Jesus Christ is the literal son of God. He is the Creator of this world. He is our Savior and Redeemer. Jesus lived a perfect live on this earth and suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane. He willingly gave his life for us when he was crucified on the cross and through this atoning sacrifice, saved us from our sins. He was resurrected after 3 days which miracle allows us to overcome death and allow our spirits to be reunited with our bodies eternally. After our death and resurrection, Jesus as our Savior, will be the final judge. Show more Show less
