Hi I'm Stephen

I grew up in Littleton, Colorado. I'm going to school at BYU-Idaho and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of 6 kids and the house is loud a lot. I'm studying Business Management and Finance at BYU-Idaho and my dream is to get into Entrepreneurship. I like backpacking and conquered a 14er this summer and am looking forward to others. I also got to do a Sprint-Triathlon which was very fun. Music is one of my greatest hobbies and I'm a big fan of guys like Michael Bubble and John Powell, the jazzy stuff.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. Both sides of my family have been members for generations but I still had to gain my own testimony that this is God's church, which is definitely a bold statement. When I was 19, I was contemplating going on a mission. It was one of the hardest choices of my life because I hadn't yet really prayed or wanted to know if the church I was raised in was really true. I decided that i'd put it to the test. I started reading the Book of Mormon for my self and came across a verse right towards the beginning in 1 Nephi 4:6-7. I was so scared to go on a mission. Terrified because I knew that I needed the Spirit and wondered if I would be able to have it and that if you go on a mission you're not there to mess around. The scripture says, "I was led by the Spirit not knowing beforehand the things that I should do. Nevertheless, I went forth." I stopped suddenly and realized that there was nothing to be afraid of as long as you have the Spirit. This was really comforting to me to realize I wouldn't have to do it alone. I dropped to my knees and in my prayer to God, said, 'If this is true, tell me and I'll go on a mission, I"ll be active, both feet in, for life. But if I don't get an answer I may not go. If you tell me though, I'll do it.' I was bold in the prayer. I was so tired of seeing this something that everyone in my family seemed to have but I didn't. My father was my Bishop, I'm the oldest of 6 kids, I had barely just enlisted in the Marines and running from a mission and everyone just seemed to get it somehow and I was sick of it. Well, I was bold, and He was bold back. I got an answer that the Book of Mormon was true and I LOVE that answer. It changed my life. I got out of the Marines before boot camp, and put my mission papers in. I have never looked back and I absolutely love life. I feel a great connection with God and feel Him work in my life. It's amazing!

How I live my faith

I've had the great blessing of having several callings in the church. I've been able to be a teacher to the other men in the Ward and be the president of the organization of men. I love the callings that we are given because of how they stretch me. There is never a time that I've been given a calling that I actually feel completely prepared for but it's amazing to feel God's support as I grow to the calling.
