Hi I'm Jeff

I'm a husband and father of four kids. I'm a business owner and engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been blessed with an amazing family that has given me a tiny glimpse of what heaven must be like. Through my wife's eyes I have seen a bit of heaven here on earth. Even though there are ups and downs in our marriage we just celebrated 22 years together and I am looking forward to the next 22. I am the proud father of four great kids who do their best at everything and bring honor to our family. For the last few years I have owned the Barn Store in Mountain View, Alberta. I have been using my engineering skills to minimize costs and have also been learning new skills. Prior to owning the Barn Store I worked for about 15 years as a mechanical engineer. I have designed, built, and tested parts that have been used in automobiles and HVAC/R systems. I enjoy coming up with new ideas or ways to make things better. I have also designed a couple products on my own and am working to get them into the market. I play sports and like to be outdoors. I especially enjoy snow skiing, basket ball, dirt bikes, and hiking.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of the feelings that I have felt over the years as I have tried to understand who God is and what that means to me. For me it is kind of similar to learning calculus. I started learning that 2+2=4 and eventually learned what an integral is and how that knowledge can help me enjoy a richer life. As I have been willing to trust my teachers and do the homework to learn on my own how math works I have come to realize how powerful calculus is and that I actually only know a small part of what is currently known, not to mention what has yet to be developed. As I have had a desire to learn about God, and have wanted to know who He is, I have found that through meaningful prayer, meditation, and thoughtful study of the words of prophets (ancient and modern) that the Comforter promised by Christ in the Book of John will bring undeniable feelings of peace and comfort about truth. This witness has been and will continue to be the foundation of my beliefs as I continue to learn of truth I have not previously considered. In addition to learning to know God, family relationships are incredibly important to me and I want to continue those relationships beyond this life. Through the teachings and atonement of Jesus Christ it is possible for families to be together forever if we follow Him.

How I live my faith

Life can become so busy and complicated so I try really hard to live my faith in a simple, practical way. I try to help my family and friends develop their own relationship with God, in their own way. I enjoy Scouting and have gone with young men and other leaders on many campouts and activities. From snow caves, to mountain tops, to beaches, and everywhere in between, I like to help young men have opportunities to learn who they are and how to develop a relationship with God (I also get to learn more about me too). I also like to help other people too. I recently got to help with clean-up efforts after a major fire had burned over 1000 homes. Being a part of an effort, with my family, to make things better is very fulfilling to me.
