Hi I'm Richard

I specialize in the taxation of real estate and the sale of alternative investments, but that only accounts for some of my time.

About Me

I am the father of 7 boys who are all Eagle Scouts and varsity Cross Country runners, and 1 girl who earned her equivalent personal progress award and is a professional violinist. My wife deserves both designations and more for raising 8 children. All 7 of our boys and myself are from the same BSA Council - Chief Sealth which has served us well over the past 40 years. Several have also served on County Search and Rescue teams. In the community I try to give service as the Emergency Preparedness and Safety Coordinator for our Community Association of 1,600 homes. My wife and I also currently serve as co-Presidents of the High School PTSA that all of our children have attended. We are an active family that likes to run, participate in snow and water sports, hike our beautiful mountains, play soccer, do triathalons, long-distance relays, and climb Mt Rainier and Mt Hood. Our 11 grandchildren keep us busy too, which I think adds years of fulness to our lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I don't know if we could survive as a large family without the help of a church that believes families are important and helps us raise them as a village. There are times, especially with teen agers, when you need others to be involved in their lives that support your values and dreams. The Mormon church fulfills this need.

How I live my faith

I try to give back to the Mormon church by teaching a youth religious class 4 times a week at 6am in the morning. We are studying the Old Testament this year. I have 28 kids in the class that are juniors and seniors in high school in our neighboring high school. It is hard to do, both the preparation, and keeping their attention at that hour every morning, but I learn a lot about the scriptures when I do so, and can act as one of their 3rd party supporters during this transitiion period of time in their life when they are making important decisions about who they are and what they want to be.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Richard
We love the Bible. I get to teach the Old Testament 4 days a week to Mormon high school juniors and seniors this year. They attend at 6am everyone morning to learn more about Moses, Daniel, Esther and other great men and women of the Bible. I get to help them see the relevance of the OT in their lives today.
