Hi I'm Randy

My seven kids would say I'm an inventor, a fixer and problem solver. Married 39 perfect years with 14 grandkids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Even though my parents were members of this church, it wasn’t until my later teenage years that I discovered for myself what I had learned was actually true. I went on a mission for two years to Canada - Alberta and Saskatchewan provinces to preach the restored gospel of Christ. When I returned I married my high school sweetheart and went to work for my father who owned a paint contractor business. Several years later I went back to school to learn about programming computers. Software development became my career until I started a small consulting company that focused on automated software testing and programming for mid-sized corporations. Times change and after 10 years and employing 9 consultants I closed my business down and went back to work as an employee in the software industry. During this time my wife and I raised 7 children, 3 boys and 4 girls. We have both served in many capacities in the church and are very blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons why I am a Mormon. Here is a very simple one. It begins with a principle of truth and how the Holy Spirit works. That is, the Holy Spirit bears witness of truth wherever truth is found. When any individual reads the Bible, searching for truth, you will find the Holy Spirit bearing witness of truth to them regardless of which church they may belong to. Now consider claims that set the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints apart from other churches: (1) The heavens are open once again like they were during the Old and New Testament. (2) God has called new, living prophets and apostles that receive revelation just like prophets of old - Abraham, Moses, Isaiah and John the Revelator. (3) Revelation from God means new scriptures revealed in our day. Just think how these claims, if actually true, would change everything. The answer for me was simple. Through prayer, when I read verses in the Bible, the Holy Spirit bears witnesses to me that the contents therein are true. When I prayerfully read verses in newly revealed scriptures like the Book of Mormon, I get the very same witness that it is true and from God. If the Holy Spirit bears witness that the Book of Mormon contains His word, then living prophets are once again on the earth and the heavens are truly open. I bear my witness along with millions of others around the globe who have sought the truth, have earnestly prayed and now know for themselves, that like the Bible, the Book of Mormon is the word of God and testifies of Christ. That is why I’m a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my Faith every day, keeping the principles of Luke 10:27 in mind. That is, to love God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength; to love my neighbor as myself. For me this is a constant challenge. The knowledge my Faith give me of who I really am, where I came from before this life and where am I going after this life gives me great strength to stay on the strait and narrow path. I know that only through Christ will I find any salvation. I have felt His love on many occasions and know that He lives.
