Hi I'm Tara

I'm a wife and mother of 5, a lover of outdoor fun, a wanna-be tennis player, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My greatest dream in life was always to be a wife and a mother of a large family, so I am very lucky that I married a fantastic guy who makes me laugh every day and we have 5 great kids. I absolutely love outdoor time with my family: hiking, running, camping, cycling, and I bet I would also love fishing if I could ever catch anything :). In my spare time, I enjoy reading just about any genre, although lately my reading endeavors are limited to the K-3rd grade variety. I love to be around children and hold a bachelor's degree in elementary education from BYU. I have recently learned that I am a horrific tennis player against my son who loves to play and needed a regular tennis partner. Maybe one day he can train me to become a formidable opponent!

Why I am a Mormon

That's easy...I chose to be a Mormon because when I was young, I read the Book of Mormon and it spoke to my heart! I loved reading the teachings of the Savior in that wonderful book. I continue to choose to be a Mormon because that tiny seed of faith has sprouted and grown. Each time I continue to read the Book of Mormon, which is the keystone of our religion, I marvel at the beautiful teachings of the Savior contained in it. It is the perfect companion book of scripture to the Old and New Testaments, which I also love to study. I am so thankful that the Prophet Joseph Smith was called by God to unearth and translate that marvelous book through the power of God and that we now have a Prophet on the earth today. Prayer has also played a monumental role in my decision to be a member of the Church. I have had many instances throughout my life where I cannot deny that my prayers and questions were answered by a Heavenly Father who knows me personally and loves me, just as he loves all of us on earth. For me, the most poignant and joyful times in my life are the times when I feel the Lord speaking to my heart and mind and guiding my paths. I am a Mormon because I am happiest when I am following the Lord's principles.

How I live my faith

My average day primarily consists of all the usual activities that a mom normally does, which includes the wonderful things like caring for our children's needs, reading to and playing with them, eating dinner together, as well as the less wonderful things like laundry, grocery shopping (ick!), scrubbing the toilets (even worse ick!) etc. However, why and how I perform my daily tasks is deeply affected by my faith. Because of my faith, I can be a better mother to my children because I know that they first belonged to Heavenly Father and that He has entrusted them into my care for a few short years. Of course I will want to raise them in a home of love and righteousness and perform even the mundane chores with gratitude when I stop to think about that! Because of my faith, I know that we are all children of God and are equals in His sight. I try to treat others with respect and want to view them how I think Christ views them. There is absolutely no room for gossip, rudeness, envying, road rage, back-biting etc. in my life when I know of the divinity in others. I try to follow the Savior’s example in my interactions with and service to others. I make plenty of mistakes, so I am extremely thankful for the Savior's Atonement and the opportunity I have to become better through Him day by day.
