Hi I'm Kathy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of four children, 18, 16, 12, and 9. I work full time as a college/career counselor in a local high school. I love spending time with my family and going to all the wonderful places in Colorado. We moved here 3 years ago from Oklahoma where my husband and I grew up. We have also lived in Texas and Arkansas. I like to cook, read, and play basketball with my kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the LDS church my whole life. But due to my parents divorce when I was 12 I was inactive for many years. When I married my husband 20 years ago. We decided we wanted to raise our future children in a Christian home. We started going to different churches in our city. Pretty much every denomination was investigated. We were frustrated because none of them felt right. Finally, I said lets go to the Mormon church. I went through primary (the children's youth program) there and had fond memories of the feeling it gave me. My husband said he would give it a try so we went. He was immediately drawn to the church when he walked in the chapel and saw all the families sitting together. The teenagers with their arms around their parents. The small children cuddled in their mother's laps. The spirit touched us both and we knew immediately that was where we belonged. My husband met with the sister missionaries and joined the church. One year later we were sealed in the temple with our 8 month old daughter. We know we will always be a family and we still love the feeling we get when we walk into the chapel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying the scriptures. As I read the Bible and Book of Mormon I draw closer to the savior. I work with the teen girls on their personal progress goals. Our church has our young women work on goals to strengthen them as Christian woman and prepare them for the future. The work on values like knowledge, integrity, good choice, accountablity, virtue, etc. I love working with them and see what beautiful women they will become.
