Hi I'm Laura

I'm a Mormon. I was born into a Mormon family. I've been a Mormon all my life. I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I was once asked during a job interview, "if you were a fruit, what kind of fruit would you be?" At the time I thought the question was completely ridiculous and had no bearing on whether or not I could do the job for which I had applied. Yet, if I were asked the same question again today I would say I am most like an orange. An orange has many sections, filled with juicy goodness, which grow together to form a nice, well rounded sphere. I have had many oppotunities and experiences which have formed the sections of my life and created the person I am today. I am a daughter, a sister, a friend, a leader, a wife, a mother, a teacher. I have many talents that I can do well, but I do not have one particular skill or talent that I am exceptionally good at. However, I sing, dance, play the piano, swim, run, cook, play volleyball, ski, decorate, speak in public, organize, and choreograph. I earned my college degree in Human Development and have had jobs ranging from federal government positions to humble jobs helping homeless families. I have traveled to many places and love learning about new places in the world. My greatest adventure has been that of being a wife to my wonderful husband and the mother of three beautiful daughters. Yes, I am most like an orange. Many experiences and oppotunities have and continue to form sections of a well rounded sphere, the person who I am.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know Jesus Christ. He is my Savior, the Redeemer of the world. This is His church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which has the fullness of His gopsel. I know these things to be true because of the overwhelming feelings of peace, joy and love I feel as I have studied the scriptures, heard the testimonies of others and prayed to know for myself that this church is Christ's church and the only complete church on the earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being happy and sharing the joy I have in my life with all those I come in contact with each day. I believe being positive is the best way to live life. Each Sunday I help to teach young women ages 12-18 years old about the gospel of Jesus Christ and how they can develop a personal relationship with God and Jesus Christ. On Tuesday evenings I meet with these young women again and particpate with them in fun activities that help them develop and achieve personal goals, learn new skills and become postive members of our community.
