Hi I'm Stephen

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in California and was introduced to the church at age 10 by my step-father.

About Me

I have been married to my high school sweetheart since 1986 and I am a father of three children. I am a Certified Financial Planner and have my own financial planning practice. My two business partners are also Mormons. I love softball and played competitive slow pitch softball for many years. Once my children were old enough to play I began to do more coaching and less playing. I enjoy spending time with my family. We are continuously looking for ways to spend time together including playing volleyball, basketball, going to movies and spending time on our houseboat at Lake Powell.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Today we have living prophets and apostles, just like the days of old, to help us meet the challenges of our day. The priesthood has been restored so we can receive ordinances that bless our lives by those who hold the authority to peform them. The Church provides opportunities to serve others and to grow spiritually as we live the teachings of Jesus Christ. Although I joined at the young age of 10, I have received many witnesses from the Holy Ghost that this Church is true. I have had the opportunity to raise my three children in the gospel. It has helped me teach them about the plan of salvation and how we need to live to be happy. I have seen the impact that the teachings of Jesus Christ have had on their lives. All three of them have a firm testimony of the gospel and they are committed to it's teachings. As a father, I am so grateful that my children know that they have a heavenly father and that we can return to live with him as an eternal family as long as we are true to the covenants that we have made with him. My wife and I are so grateful we had the gospel in our lives to help raise our children.

How I live my faith

As a member I have had the privilege to serve as a full-time missionary, youth teacher, sunday school teacher, adult gospel doctrine teacher, young mens youth leader, and I am currently a Bishop. I enjoy serving and helping members of our ward family as it blesses my life in many ways. As I have served in these callings I have been spiritually strenthened and I have learned to love others. I also enjoy participating in service events and activities within our community. During the past year some of these events included securing and delivering sports equipment to a local family homeless shelter, providing meals for the homeless, and organizing crews to clean up yards of foreclosed homes within our neighborhood. It is amazing what a ward family can do to reach out and make a difference within our community. Although I am far from being perfect, I try to live my faith by living the teachings of Jesus Christ including serving others, attending my church meetings, reading and pondering the scriptures and participating in individual and family prayer.
