Hi I'm Steve

I love a good burger and fries, I cycle long distances, I coach my kids soccer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Issaquah, WA. Recently, I explained to my colleagues over a work lunch that my problem is I have too many hobbies. When they found out that I was married for 14 years with 3.5 kids (#4 due in 2012) they started to see my dilemma. I told them that because I spend so much time outside of work with my family, community, church jobs and coaching, it leaves little time for me to be distracted with -- soccer, cycling, golfing, paddle boarding, water skiing, wake boarding, wake surfing, running, hiking, kayaking, fishing, long boarding, Frisbee golfing, swimming and "geeking" around with the Internet, social media and technology. But, because Issaquah is a great place to do all of these things and because these are also a big part of what makes me, "me", I find time during my limited early morning or scarce weekend get-a-ways to participate in most of these activities with friends and/or family. Commuting 25 miles to work on my bike also fills an important role in my sanity!

Why I am a Mormon

I converted from a kid who grew up as a Mormon (complete with a legacy of faithful Mormon ancestors) to a Mormon with my own conviction. I gained this conviction because the Holy Ghost changed my heart after I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to ask if it was the word of God. I felt good inside. I feel good everyday I read the Book. I've taught countless people about the Book and see it changes lives. It teaches that Jesus Christ resurrected and among other things, came to the people in the America's and established his Church. It complements the Bible and teaches about faith, repentance, baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I am the neighborhood association rep for our street, I coach my kids sports teams and I volunteer for my Church. I meet with other members of my faith to plan, organize and tend to the needs of the members. I get to visit members of our congregation and most importantly am assigned at least 3 families to meet with regularly. In these house calls I teach and bless. I inquire about family and temporal welfare, so that their physical and spiritual needs can be met. Being a member of this Church makes me remember to serve others and that service makes me happy. That happiness is addicting and because I want others to feel this happiness, I do things like create a Mormon.org profile to let all who care to listen know that they can feel this happiness too.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Steve
I love knowing we have a prophet today. This is an easy one to explain to my friends because after you read, pray about and accept that the Book of Mormon is the word of God...that Joseph Smith translated it as a prophet, inspired by the Holy Ghost...that we have a prophet today just makes sense.
