Hi I'm Jackson Hern

I'm a Missionary in Colorado Springs, CO, I'm an Eagle Scout, I'm a student at BYU-Idaho, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hello! I'm 20 and I'm now currently a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Colorado Colorado Springs Mission. I enjoy to do many things such as acting, singing, graphic design, scuba diving, four-wheeling, operas, technology, and helping other people find happiness! I love teaching people about Jesus Christ and I try my best to follow His example.

Why I am a Mormon

First of all, I do not have the power to put in words the pure happiness I feel being a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I know that the LDS Church is the only thing that I can put all my trust in this world; more than anything except for God Himself. The reason being because it is ran by a person who knows more than we can see, His name is Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because I know that this is His Church, fully restored on the earth today. I love Christ and I am eternally grateful for what He did for me and my sins. I love Him and I love that He lives and speaks today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving a mission for two years and telling other people about my faith and beliefs. I also study my scriptures first thing in the morning. I talk with my Father in Heaven multiple times a day. I live my faith by defending my faith in hard times, and by sharing my faith with others.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Jackson Hern
Many people ask me how to we pick our prophet. As in other religions, the congregation votes and picks a leader for their church. We do not do it this way; it is one of the unique things about the LDS Church. First of all, this is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jesus Christ is the Head of this Church. So He is the person who "runs" the Church. The calling and appointment of the Living Prophet is directed by Him whose Church it is. In Amos 3:7, it says, "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." We have a modern day prophet on the earth today, and his name is Thomas S. Monson. He is the President of the Church. He speaks with Christ and Christ tells him what to do and how to direct His Church. After each Church President passes away, the senior Apostle becomes the next President. Each President of the Church selects counselors from worthy and capable men. Together, these men form the First Presidency of the Church. Along with the Twelve Apostles, they give direction to the Church. Show more Show less

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

Jackson Hern
To become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you will immediately notice a huge difference in your life. That I can promise you. All you have to do is meet with Church representatives and participate in a series of discussions that will introduce you to basic principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Then, when you are ready, you can become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by receiving the ordinance of baptism by immersion for the remission of sins by one having authority who after the baptism lays their hands upon your head, confirms you a member of the Church and then pronounces a blessing upon you that you may receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (see Acts 8:18-20).
