Hi I'm Bud

I have four children. I work for Boeing. I am currently an 'Empty Nester' and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a suburb just south of Salt Lake City. After changing direction many times, I started a career as an Elementary School Teacher. After my wife got pregnant with our first child, I decided to return for a Masters Degree in Computer Aided Manufacturing from BYU. This degree took me to Washington State and the Boeing Aerospace Company, for the last 30 years. I work mainly with manufacturing computing systems, currently as a Computing Systems Architect. Our family has always enjoyed tennis. Now my children have all left home, my wife and I continue to play tennis about once a week and periodically join mixed doubles leagues. We also enjoy traveling. We have visited most of Western Europe, England, the Scandinavian countries, Brazil, Philippines, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska, and lots of the US. I also enjoy hiking, cross-country skiing, racquet ball, and home projects.

Why I am a Mormon

I served as a missionary for my church in Japan when I was 19 years old. I saw how the teachings of Jesus Christ changed people’s lives. I wanted to have that influence in my life as I was raising my children. When my wife and I got married we were sealed together for eternity. The prospects of being with my wife and four children for eternity give me a different perspective in my day to day living. I believe it makes a difference in how I treat my wife and kids. I truly believe I am a child of my Heavenly Father and that through Jesus Christ; I can live with Him again with my family.

How I live my faith

I have been greatly blessed because of my faith in Jesus Christ. Following the commandments has given me direction in raising my children and in conducting my own life. If everyone followed the golden rule,"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you", many of our world problems would be solved. I know that other churches around the world do much good, and I respect their leaders and members. However, I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints offers a ‘fullness’ of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It provides all of the saving ordinances to return to our Heavenly Father and defines my purpose on earth. My family is my greatest joy in my life. As my children were growing up, I became involved in helping them with their sports teams and scouting adventures. We also volunteered in the community together. They are now grown and have their own families, but I still enjoy working with youth in our church youth program and in boy scouting. My wife and I continue to volunteer for events that support our community. I have realized that serving others brings me great happiness.
