Hi I'm PJ

I'm a Mormon. I was baptized in 2007 at the age of 43.

About Me

I am convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was raised in the Catholic and Lutheran Churches but I joked I spent most Sundays going to the Church of the Spoken Wheel. That is in reference to all the years I rode and raced bicycles. I still ride all types of bikes, just not on Sunday! I am a proud Iowa State Cyclone! I am a Certified Mortgage Banker and my wife and I are actively involved in our industry's national association. I am a father in a blended family of four with children ranging in ages from 17 to 2 years-old. My wife spent the past year battling and beating breast cancer. I love music, cooking and working in the yard. I enjoy taking my kids on trips to places like Disneyland. My wife is my best friend and I am so happy for opportunity to have been sealed to her for time and all eternity. I am blessed to have found the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Catholic but spent as much time going to the Lutheran church growing up. But then when I got married, my now ex-wife and I did not go to church. Instead I spent my Sundays riding and racing my bike. After we started a family, we started attending a Lutheran Church. When I was moved to Arizona from Iowa for work, we became active in our local Lutheran Church. I found it strange that when we stopped attending the Lutheran church (when we separated), no one from the congregation ever reached out to us. When my new girlfriend invited me to go to church with her I agreed. Amy was born in the Church but had been inactive for eighteen years. We started attending together. I found it to be the most inviting and welcoming environment. I always knew there was something different (In a good way) about my Mormon customers. They lived their lives by a different standard. They were family and service oriented. That appealed to me. Then one Sunday a brother gave a talk on forgiveness. It involved the murder of his daughter and how he had to learn to forgive himself and then to forgive the young man who committed the awful act and lastly how he worked to help the young man forgive himself After the brother spoke, the Bishop stood up and said that if there was anyone visiting that day who wondered what the feeling they were feeling at that time, it was the Holy Spirit. It was at that time I knew I wanted to learn more about becoming a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have had many examples of Saints who have helped me and continue to help me to be a Saint. They include my wife's family, our church leaders and friends and customers. Because of these examples and the Gospel I am a better man, Father, Husband, Son than I was four years ago. I am thankful for those who have lead me to the Gospel. I am thankful for forever families. I know this Church is true and that Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet of God.

How I live my faith

Before I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I was always impressed with the service orientation of the members of the Church (I had several Mormon customers). This appealed to me as I was raised to always help others. I felt very comfortable being involved and helping others. I always try to be an example to those around me and this becomes very easy when you are helping others. It gives me the opportunity to show the principles by which I live my life - to tell of the blessings that have come to me and my family by opening our hearts and letting the Gospel of Jesus Christ into our lives.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Thomas M. Monson is the current prophet and President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is called of god, just like the prophets of od. Show more Show less
