Hi I'm Alayne

Born and raised in Western Washington, I'm a mom, a piano teacher, a school volunteer, a sister and a friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The first date my husband asked me on, he took me to the Woodland Park Zoo. Almost 20 years and 4 kids later our home is a zoo! A few less animals and a lot more crazy, it's our favourite place to be. I love traveling (to see family or just the sites) and camping but coming home always feels good. Aside from kids and family activities, I love to read, make music, scrapbook, create cards, collect squished pennies, volunteer in the school, and hang out with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member of the LDS church. I never really rebelled as a youth because it felt good and my friends were there. Besides, it was just what our family did. When I was in highschool, I got to travel to Australia as an exchange student. All of a sudden, church was up to me. My first host family was Catholic. I went to church with them on Saturday evenings and they were more than happy to drop me off at LDS meetings on Sunday mornings. My next two host families didn't attend church regularly and didn't see why I needed to either. They weren't hostile or rude, but it wasn't how they spent their Sundays. A ride to seminary at what time in the morning?!?!? You've got to be kidding, lol! I had a great little branch to attend and a seminary class of about 6 but no one telling me I had to go. A world away from my family, I had to start searching my own heart for what I believed. It was up to me to then act on it. I didn't hear a voice speak from heaven or angels appear, but I made a choice then and knew it was what the Lord wanted for me. My Father in Heaven really watches over me. He know me and knows my needs. He strengthens me and helps me face the challenges of life. Through my Saviour, Jesus Christ, I can return "home to that Heaven, where Father is waiting for me." No matter what this ol' word throws at me, I find joy in living knowing that Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ are guiding me home.

How I live my faith

As it is with all busy moms, life is never dull. I volunteer in my kids schools, in the classrooms, for field trips, on PTA boards, and where ever needed. I have 4 kids in 4 different school due to their ages and one daughter with special needs. I help with my girls' Girl Scout troops and soon will enter the Cub Scouts vortex as well. :-) At church, I currently serve with the sisters at church to plan activities, coordinate help where needed and fellow-shipping. I love getting to know the ladies and strengthening friendships. It's my first opportunity in quite a while that doesn't involve music or the under 18 crowd. I must admit it's nice sitting with my family during sacrament meeting after playing the organ for the last 8 years. I also recently finished a 3 year stint as Activity Days Leader (8-11 yr old girls) and got to work with the Laurels (16-17 yr old girls) prior to that.
