Hi I'm Peter

I'm an MBA student. I am beginning a career in senior living. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an MBA student in my final year. I am passionate about serving the elderly and plan to pursue the senior living services industry as a career following my graduation. I have two children and a beautiful and supportive wife. I try to convince my classmates to wake up early and play soccer with me at 7:00 AM, so that I can dedicate the day to my studies and spend the evening with my family. I served a two year Mormon mission in New York City where I learned and taught in Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

It makes me happy. I believe in using the scientific method to decipher truth. In spiritual matters, I believe that God has given us a 6th sense to help us identify eternal truths (love, joy, peace - see Gal. 5:12). I use these promptings to help identify and follow spiritual truths. When I am good at it, I feel closer to God and feel a greater love for myself. Following and listening to these feelings led me to know that the Book of Mormon is true. From there, everything else fit. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I love to share it with my friends, family, and neighbors.

How I live my faith

I try to be the best I can be and I encourage my family to do the same. Each week we set aside time as a family to talk about the Gospel of Jesus Christ (my kids are 3 and 1- so we usually have about a 30 second attention span). Then we sing, pray, have a treat, play games, and set goals for the week. Each day we review our goals, pray, and read from the scriptures together. Some days we miss this when I have MBA team meetings that get in the way. These days never feel quite the same and so I am usually able to arrange things so that they don't conflict. I also love to go out on visits with the full-time missionaries and teach people about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how that fits with Mormonism. Once or twice a month, I also go out with a fellow Mormon MBA student and we visit 3 families in our ward. We make sure there needs are being met, share a message, and- when I'm on top of things, bring them cookies! I have also elected to take religious classes through our University's LDS Institute of Religion (these are found on or near almost every major campus). This semester I am taking a class on the life of Christ according to the Gospel of Matthew. I love the balance that this provides to my MBA education and how it helps me maintain my spirituality.
