Hi I'm Brynne

I'm passionate about family, motherhood, education and travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Perhaps it is in my genetic code or perhaps it is an affection that I acquired through years of adventures, either way, the truth is that I love to travel. It doesn't have to be far, but anywhere I can take my little crew where we can explore and learn about the beautiful world around us brings joy to my heart. I love creating memories with my family as we learn about history and people. Hiking and biking are some of our favorite ways to see the world. Even though my mind may wander to our next destination, my heart is always at home. I love, love, love being a wife and a mother. It is the most difficult and engaging work I have ever been a part of. Despite my inadequacies God saw fit to bless me with an incredible family. I married a surfer turned accountant who completes me in so many ways. Together we have 4 boys and 1 girl who fill our lives with joy and chaos! We are both BYU graduates who grew up at the beach in Orange County. Today we live in the desert. After a decade of working as a registered nurse (sometimes full time and sometimes part time) in the emergency department and childbirth education I decided to retire and give my complete attention to the task at hand: Motherhood. Currently, we homeschool which adds to the adventures and the travels!

Why I am a Mormon

Since I grew up in a Mormon household, I have always been surrounded my Mormon doctrine and theology. The knowledge that God is real and that he loves ME has been something that I have known for as long as I can remember. I say "known" because it wasn't something that my parents just told me, but rather something that I could almost tangibly feel. Although my parents did a wonderful job of teaching me about Christ, I am not a Mormon simply based upon their beliefs. I am a Mormon because I believe that Jesus is the Christ: That he lived and died for you and me and that because of his life, death and resurrection we can live with him again. This truth has been manifest to me over and over through the holy spirit. I know that there is real power in prayer and in scripture study because I see it and feel it in my life on a daily basis.

How I live my faith

Each day we make it a priority to have family prayer and family scripture study. As we do this, I feel that we are slowly building "spiritual armor" for my children to combat the wickedness and sadness that will inevitably face them out in the world. In addition, to this precious (well sometimes more crazy than precious!) time with my children, I try to make sure that I also pray and read my scriptures on my own. If I can find a few quiet moments to ponder without the kids, then I feel like I can check in with God each day and make sure that I am heading in the right direction. As a family, we try to spend a couple nights together each week--sometimes discussing gospel principles, sometimes having "family council" (where we plan and give opinions) and sometimes just playing together (we call it "family fun night"). Additionally, my husband and I try to carve out time to walk and talk each night. Both of us are incredibly busy and by participating in this simple ritual we feel like we are able to keep our relationship strong which in turn keeps our family strong. Truly, the family is central to Heavenly Father's plan for us.
