Hi I'm Mary Ann

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a master degree in Molecular Biology and worked doing cancer research before I had children. Now, most of my time and attention during my day goes toward raising my two darling children. My husband is an accountant, and does all he can to change the stereotype the comes with that profession. Although I don't excel in any one area, I love to dabble in lots of different things-- singing, running, waterskiing, decorating and landscaping, cooking, scuba diving and the ocean, snowboarding, eating yummy food, being outside, reading, serving others. Lists are something I live by and checking things off my lists is greatly satisfying to me. I love dancing with my husband in the living room, listening to a good book while folding laundry, and swinging on the swings with my kids. Balance is something that I am constantly working on, and I have a tendency to think I can do more than I really can which lead me to become overwhelmed. Since my kids are young, sleep is something I cherish but never seem to get enough of. I have lived in Utah, Tennessee, Washington, California, Hawaii, and Texas and have loved finding out the great things each place has to offer.

Why I am a Mormon

Ask my husband or my parents and they'll tell you I hate being told what to do. I like making my own decisions, big or small. As I have chosen to implement teachings of gospel of Jesus Christ into my life, I feel good about what I have done and that propels me to do more, to try harder to be like my Savior Jesus Christ. I become a better mom, wife, and friend when I am trying to emulate Him. The peace I get that comes from knowing I am doing my best to be honest, pure, and loving is something that is invaluable. With each small step I take to learn and live the principles of the gospel, my life is enriched.

How I live my faith

I take time daily to try to learn from the scriptures about the gospel of Jesus Christ and what His plan for me is. As I read, I learn about being honest, diligent, loving, and hopeful-- attributes that we'd all like to have in a friend or neighbor. I pray to draw closer to my Savior, and ask for his blessings and guidance. And I try to implement what I have learned as I go through my days. I am the president of the youth organization for young women ages 12-18 in my congregation. At church on Sundays, I teach them how to be like Jesus, what He has taught us through the scriptures and modern prophets, and I share with them what I have learned from my own experiences. One night a week, we have activities to reenforce the values that we are striving to live-- faith, divine nature, individual worth, knowledge, choice and accountability, good works, integrity, and virtue. Although its a lot of work I love serving these girls and its worth it to see the girls making good decisions about how to lead their life and seeing their happiness from doing so.
