Hi I'm Brenda

I grew up on a small farm in Eastern Washington. I am a convert to the church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 6 grown children and currently 13 grandchildren. I love quilting, crafts, and home decorating. I enjoy the outdoors and walk 15 miles a week. I grew up on a farm but now enjoy an urban lifestyle in the greater Seattle area.

Why I am a Mormon

The Book of Mormon was key to my conversion. When I was introduced to it I was amazed to learn that it was a history of the peoples of the Americas. It was doubly amazing to learn that Christ visited these Americas and Book of Mormon prophets testified of Christ’s life and mission. I loved learning about Joseph Smith and his role in bringing the Book of Mormon to light. Joseph’s personal account of his first vision moved me beyond anything I had ever experienced before. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know whether it was true. When I prayed I not only received an answer that it was true but I also felt my Heavenly Father’s love for me. I knew he was mindful of me. I felt I was home… that these truths were giving me a greater understanding about my relationship with my Father in Heaven. The missionaries taught me the plan of salvation, the importance of the sacrament and the atonement, the word of wisdom, the blessings of tithing, and the restoration. I was again amazed to learn of modern day prophets. I remember thinking how does a person get to be 18 years old and not know that there is a living prophet on the earth. How come I have never heard of the Book of Mormon? It just blew me away!

How I live my faith

Before I became a member of the Mormon Church I observed, in other churches, men ministers and preachers who pretty much ran the show. They were the leadership, they were the speakers, they were the decision makers. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, each individual member is given opportunities to serve, to speak, and to share our testimonies. My participation in these opportunities has strengthened my faith. I currently serve in the world's largest organization for women as a local president. Through this service I've worked closely with the priesthood leadership in making key decisions to bless the lives of the members, helping them find happiness and fulfillment. It has been a grand experience! This is truly the Lord's way, allowing each individual to grow through service, leadership opportunities, and blessings.
