Hi I'm Dixie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in a very humble home, with very little income. We lived in the Country where we raised our own beef and chickens and grew a vegetable garden to feed the family. We loved every minute of it and didn't know we were a poor family as we had lots of wonderful experiences in life. After I graduated from high school I went to work in a bank as college was never affordable in our family. After a few years out of School I married my high school sweetheart and have been with him for almost 44 years. I am a mother of 4 children and 6 grandchildren. We love our family very much, an although they are 1 hour away from us we try to get together at least every 2 weeks. I work as a Secretary in a Transitional School for high risk students who have been suspended from one of the 9 schools in our District. Life is never boring. We work with these students, helping them to graduate from high school or return to their home school. When I am not working I enjoy any kind of crafts and remodeling our home. We have put in Mexican tile on most of our floors and painted and repainted our home. We love animals and have 2 Yorkies of our own. We treat them just like our little children and spoil them rotten.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family, with grandparents and great grandparents who were very dedicated to the church. My great grandparents migrated from Denmark in the 1800's after they were baptised in their native land. They brought with them a strong conviction that the LDS faith was the true Church of Jesus Christ. We were always included in everything our parents and grandparents were doing which made us realize how important families are. They were wonderful examples to us all. It helped my testimony of the gospel to grow stronger with age. We were taught many wonderful things in the church as we grew up to understand why we are here on this earth.

How I live my faith

My husband and I work with in the Young Singles Ward, 18 years to 30 years old, helping them to make the right choices in their lives. We hold Family Home Evening every Monday with them, as some are very far from home while going to college. We have wonderful activities to encourage them to meet others who have the same beliefs and strong morals as they do, hoping that they will choose a companion to marry in the Temple of our Savior. We hometeach families in our Ward to bring them a spiritual lesson and helping them with any problems that they might have. We continue to pray to our Father in Heaven asking for guidance in everything we do so we might gain strength and be good examples to all those we come in contact with.
