Hi I'm Katy

I'm a Mormon. I am a wife of 21yrs to a fabulous husband, a mother of 4 amazing kids, and a pediatric intensive care nurse.

About Me

I am a mother of 4 incredible kids and wife to a great man. I love to read and am currently into anything that isn’t drama. I went back to school about 7 years ago to receive a degree in nursing. My original BS was in public communication, but I had always wanted to learn about the medical field. I work nights because the time I have after school with the kids is precious and dear hubby and I decided that one of us should be home/available at all times.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family with an LDS mother and a Catholic father. I remember my father joining the church when I was 4yrs old and having the opportunity to be sealed in the temple to my parents and older brother. I remember going to church in a building that was used as a funeral parlor during the week. My mother made curtains to cover some of the “areas” on Sundays. My parents taught me early on that people can change, but the gospel is always true. As I have gone through life I have witnessed the consequences of choices both good and bad. I have seen lives torn down and lives prosper. The constant has always been the gospel and that the teachings hold true. I believe that there are many good people here in the Earth. Many have only received a part of what Christ has taught. I firmly believe that when Joseph Smith received what became the Book of Mormon and other revelations, the gospel was restored to the Earth in its entirity. This knowledge should be spread throughout the world. When I follow Christ’s teachings, I have felt love, comfort and assurance regardless of what the situation presents. I know that I can be with my family forever as long as I do what is right. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day. From the principles of organization to tolerance and love, I try to do what Christ expects of me. I have served within the organization of the Church in many capacities. My favorite jobs are dealing with the youth from the nursery age to the seniors in high school. I find them fascinating with such pure understandings of life. I have tried to stay active in the community by serving on PTO councils and sports team boards. I believe that when good people pull away from their neighbors, communities suffer. I work in a setting where death occurs and I am able to use my faith to strengthen myself and those around me. I have had the opportunity and priviledge of working with non denominational chaplains to create protocols supporting faith in the hospital. I truly believe we are all brothers and sisters working towards going Home to a loving Father in Heaven and I think this is accomplished by helping each other.
