Hi I'm Allesha

I am a 5th generation Arizonan. I am passionate about education and music in our schools. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single, Spanish speaking, crazy music nerd. I play the cello, piano, and I attempt to play the guitar. I have been singing and performing ever since I can remember and I love it! I studied music and education at a University and now I teach choir at a high school. I am also very lucky to get to work with the ELL students as well (English language learners). Teaching high school keeps me busy and definitely teaches me patience. I am very passionate about education and I hope to get more involved with educational reform. I love dancing, even though I'm not very good at it and I am often caught dancing in the car, at the store, or just any chance I get. The way I see it, singing is better than talking and dancing is just so much better than walking.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormon and introduced me to the faith. I was baptized when I was eight because I wanted to follow Jesus Christ. Even at that young age I felt a great desire to be close to God. My faith helped to strengthen me throughout many difficult times in my life, especially the Book of Mormon. During a really challenging time I decided to test out what my parents had taught me and I began to pray more faithfully and read the Book of Mormon every day. It changed my life. In that time I grew to love that book and I learned that it is really the word of God. It brought me closer to Him and gave me the light and happiness I was seeking. And because that book is true, I knew that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that this really is the church of Jesus Christ on the earth once again. Since then I have had other confirming experiences that have strengthened my conviction. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and I am grateful for His sacrifice for me. I know that God is our Heavenly Father and that He loves all of us because we are His children. I know that He loves me personally and this knowledge has changed my life forever.

How I live my faith

I regularly attend church services and activities to strengthen my faith in Jesus Christ and increase my personal relationship with God. It's also important to me to take time in my personal life to study the scriptures, like the Bible and the Book of Mormon, and talk to my Heavenly Father through prayer. I attend the church choir and serve as a leader with the women in the church. I try to just be a good person and live what I believe each day.
