Hi I'm Steve Slade

I love this earthly experience that has blessed me with an incredible wife & four amazing children... and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 46 years old and I have so much fun building roads and bridges as a Professional Civil Engineer. My hobbies are spending time with my family and making things out of wood for my family. I am a husband to a wife that has blessed my life more than I can ever imagine. I have 2 boys and two girls that light up my day everytime I come home or spent time with them. I know that they are growing up faster than I want ..and someday real soon, they will be leaving my home for their own journey through this life on earth. I need to enjoy my children everyday and give thanks to my father in heaven for my family. I consider everything I have received and done on this earth, a blessing from my father in heaven. and I love the Lord and my family more than words can express.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was young, I had a lot of friends from different faiths and back grounds. I did not have any faith when I was growing up. I distinctly remember the time I had to make a choice whether to go down one road, with a certain group of friends that would lead me to drug use and alcohol use or go down another road, with another group of friends, that did not do these things. This group of friends were called Mormons. I chose the Mormon friends that eventually influenced me to learn more about who Jesus Christ is, and how he has blessed my life here on earth. Today, I cannot imagine not having the gospel in my life and not knowing how much Jesus Christ loves and blesses my life. I do remember as a boy worrying about death and what would happen to me after I die. I can still remember crying to my mother, after worrying about what would become of me after I die, and my mother not being able to comfort me with this misunderstanding. Later on in life I was prompted to take the missionary lessons when I was 19 years old, and learned about the plan of salvation that answered all my boyhood fears. I know this is the true church and I know that Jesus Christ lives and blesses me and my family everyday.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life that would allow me to someday be in the presence of my Father in Heaven again. I know that I am not perfect and work on those imperfection each day. I am grateful for the knowledge of the atonement that makes it possible for all of Gods children to repent and be forgiven of our sins, made possible through his son Jesus Christ. One way I work on this is by serving our Father in Heaven through accepting callings in the church. I have had several callings in the church since I was baptized 26 years ago; but I have not experienced more joy and love serving, than I do right now serving the Lord as a Bishop.
