Hi I'm Luis

I love running, I love Country Music, I'm a missionary, I love being Happy and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from high school a year ago. I am a missionary in the California Oakland/San Francisco Mission. I know life has so many great things in store for me and I'm so excited for them! I don't really know what I'm going to study at Brigham Young University, the university I got accepted to but I still have some time to figure it out. I hope to one day raise a beautiful loving family and I hope that day comes sooner than later. Running is one of my passions! Whenever I go on vacation I run to enjoy the different scenery. Its good to run by myself and think about things but its also enjoyable to run with others. Its a great way to get to know people. I like most people to have ever come into existence, I love music. Especially country music!!! Its songs about me and who I am. Also like most people, I like, no LOVE to be happy. I like to make people laugh. I wouldn't consider myself funny or anything, but I love when people laugh and smile. I understand that there are times to be serious, times when things will be sad, but that doesn't mean we can't be happy!

Why I am a Mormon

As a young 15 year-old boy with few friends and living in a troubled home life got really difficult at times. I live in a community with lots of members of The Church so I saw how determined those people were and how happy they were, I wondered why that was. So one day I decided to read The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I soon began to feel the love of my Savior as I read the book, I felt the impression that I should began to pray to God. A friend encouraged me to meet with missionaries and so I did. The things they taught sunk deep into my soul. The more I learned the more I realized that the True Church as taught in the Bible was back on the earth today. However this realization occurred only after I had prayed to God the Father in the name of Christ to know that the Book of Mormon is true. By the power of the Holy Ghost it was revealed to me that the Book of Mormon was true, that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true and living church. There is no greater happiness in this life than following the will of God. He knows what is best for us and what will bring us the greatest joy.

How I live my faith

I love life! Every minute of it. From the sad to the mad and especially to the glad! I have come to know that when keeping the commandments of God is a pursuit and not a burden that life becomes a much happier thing. I am serving a full time 2 year mission in the Bay Area because a prophet of God has counseled young men to do so and because I want others to find the great joy I have found. I study the Gospel of Jesus Christ and strive to follow His example in all things! I believe that being happy is an act of faith. Its easy to be sad, its easy to get mad, but when something tragic, unfortunate, upsetting, or even just annoying happens, its quite a challenge to be glad. Like any other person, I am not perfect, I make mistakes. But I become better as I pray to God daily and strive to invite Him into all aspects of my life.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

There are multiple authors, just like the Bible has multiple different writers, but it is called The Book of Mormon, because Mormon, a prophet-historian, abridged many of these writings and put them together. Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

After the death of Judas Iscariot, we can see that Christ's apostles called another apostle. It therefore makes sense that Jesus Christ intended the Apostles to continue. However, because of persecution the Apostles were killed. So that group of Apostles that Christ established was no longer on the earth. Through the prophet Joseph Smith Jesus Christ restored the priesthood to the earth and eventually called 12 new apostles. Show more Show less
