Hi I'm Jim Copitzky

I am a husband, father of three, grandfather of five, a businessman leading three different corporations and I am also a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in a very rural part of northern California and raised on my granfathers farm with my family. We raised cattle, pigs, chickens, grew harvested wheat, barly, oats and Alfalfa. We grew our own food, butchered the animals, made our own sausage, bacon and ham. I was a rich full life which was the result of our hard work. I graduated from the untiversity of California with degrees in biology and chemistry and thought I was on my way to dental school but that was not the real plan. While working in college I became enthralled in the business world and that is where I have spent my work life. Our corporate career provided the provilage of traveling and experiencing much of this wonderful world. Met my wife in college and married her 46 wonderful year ago. We had three great chidren and now have five grand children. We enjoy our family immensely and spend as much time together as possible. My wife has supported me throughout our life together moving 18 times and living all over America. What a great journey it has been for us all. At present we operate a family enterprise comprised of three difffent corporations in the north west. Where we plan on remaining. My wife and I live on a wonderful island nestled in the beautiful Puget Sound area surrounded by snow caped peak, forrests, wildlife and the beautiful Puget Sound.

Why I am a Mormon

My family were all members of the Catholic and Luthern churches. As children, my wife and I were both raised Catholic. After marrying we both felt the church was not meeting our needs in helping us understand the gospel and grow closer to our savior Jesus Christ We began investgating different religions including some that were not Christian. The search lasted the first 9 years of our marriage going from church to church on our search for what we felt was the truth. in 1976 While on a business trip to Salt Lake City a concierge at thye hotel suggested that I go up to Temple Square and enjoy the history of the area As I walked into this beautiful setting that August afternoon I was invited to join a group tour of the Square. As we progressed through the grounds we stopped at the tabernacle for discussion. As I looked East at the magnificent towering granite temple I was touched by the beauty and there seemed to be a spiritual power that touched me. We progressed to the north visitors center and and spent the rest of the afternoon and evening experiencing an amazing overview of Christian doctrine and the histroy and tenants of the Mormon faith. Long after the tour ended i was still enjoying the movies and vignettes. I was startled to realize that it was 8:30 PM. I had spent most of the day at Temple Square. When I returned to the hotel I called my wife with the intention to share my experience but before I could she told me of her day which included spending an hour with our neighbor who had invited two Mormon missionaries to come to lunch. She was so excited about the experience and concluded by stating that she and Virgina were planning to attend the Mormon church Sunday and invited me to join them. I almost fell off the chair. We invited missionaries to teach us and our family joined the church some months later. That was 36 years ago since we made that life changing decision. The second best decision of our lives.

How I live my faith

Over the years I have been a member of the church I have matured in my knowlege and testimony of the gospel and my role in it. In the Mormon church the members serve each other as in the ancient church Christ founded. We serve in various postions ranging from leadership, teaching children, youth and adults, etc.. I have served in many positions such as a teacher assigned to watch over and help families; leader of the men and young men and women; teacher of children, women, men and youth groups. At present I am privilaged to serve as the President of our branch of 250 members. You might ask how did I qualify for such service? The answer is that, as in times of old, God reveals his will through his prophets and leaders who are entitled to this revelation. For each calling that I have held I can testify to you that I know that I was called and supported by God to fullfill that responsibility. Revelation has been a key part of the gospel plan from the foundation of the earth. God has always spoken to his people through his appointed prophets. The scriptures so testify. I know that a loving Father in Heaven knows each of us and is mindful of our needs and will guide us. That is and has always been the Gospel plan. I also know that, just as prophesied in the Old and New Testiments that there will be a time of refreshing or restoration of the fullness of the Gospel just prior to the second and final coming of our Savior Jesus Christ and as prophesied by Ezekiel, Isaiah and the New Testament writers this restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in it's fullness will come just prior to his second and final coming. I testify to you that I know that this resoration has occured and that the Lords fist appointed prophet in this dispensation was a young man by the name of Joseph Smith Jr. and by an through him the Lord has restablished his true church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for the benefit of all God's children. Come and join us.
