Hi I'm Eric

I am a college student. I am an avid golfer. I love music. I love all sports. I love photography. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello, my name is Eric. I find joy in many things. I would have to say that my favorite thing is to go and play sports, no matter what it is, it can range from football all the way to golf and beyond. Photography is also a thing that i really enjoy, it gives you an opportunity to catch a precious moment and then years later you can go back and re-live that moment all because of a picture. I love to sing, whether it be in the car singing with the radio or on stage in a concert for choir, anywhere. I believe that one of the coolest things that i have been privileged to do is to work with kids who have special needs, they hold a special place in my heart and they are a great example to me, they can just love everyone and they have taught me many things, like how i can persevere through trials that may be in my life because I see the trials that they are going through. I am a college student studying exercise physiology so i can go into the medical field and help others. I love the boy scouts of America program, it has taught me many things and has molded me into who i am today.

Why I am a Mormon

There are so many reasons why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am a member because I know that it is true with all of my heart. I have come to know that this is true in a couple instances in my life, the main reason though is that i have prayed and asked and Heavenly Father has revealed it to me through the Holy Ghost. I grew up as a member of the church and i always believed it was true and then i ran into some experiences i had that really caused me to ponder on the matter. The big experience that I had was that i witnessed one of my friends drown, all i could do was stand there, i was useless, i froze and he was gone, there was nothing i could do. I began to question why, why did he die, he was such a great friend and example. He was an eagle scout, he played on the football team, he was a leader in one of the quorums at church, why did it happen to him? Why would God let him die? I pondered these things for the next seven months and then i was at a youth conference and i received my answer. I know that he is okay and that he is doing what God wants him to do. We don't always get the answers we want...but we do always get answers, we just have to be looking and listening for them. I know that The Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it truly is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith saw God and His son Jesus Christ. I know that the atonement is real, that through it, if we live the gospel of Jesus Christ, we can return and live with God. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today and that he speaks with God and lets us know what we need to do so that we can be blessed. I know that the priesthood, the authority to act in the name of god, has been restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that we can be sealed to live with our families forever. I know that god loves each of us and wants us to return and live with Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in a few different ways. One of the best things that i get to do is to go out and do home teaching for some of the members of the ward that i live in. It gives me an opportunity to do service for them and i can get to know them better in that way as well. It builds unity in the church and when you serve and help one another it is a lot easier to love them. i am also privileged to share our message with others and invite them to learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This gives others the opportunity to learn about what we believe and they can receive the blessings that I have received.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Eric
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the most important thing that ever has happened and will ever happen. It enables us to receive forgiveness from our sins so that we may return to live with God after we die. It is comprised of three things: His suffering in the garden of Gethsemane, His death on the cross, and His resurrection from death. By experiencing these three things he can truly "succor [us] according to [our] infirmities..." and "he [took] upon him death that he could loose the bands of death...". (Alma 7:11,12) Through the atonement we can be forgiven, if with live the gospel of Jesus Christ, which includes faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the holy ghost, and enduring to the end.
