Hi I'm Scott

I'm an accounting professional, family man, graduate student, and a writer. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in the Pacific Northwest Seattle area for most of my life. I love it here. I have a full and busy life with work, family, and school. I am an avid reader and movie watcher. A great escape for me includes reading a great mystery or fantasy novel or watching any version of Star Trek. I also enjoy playing and refereeing basketball, studying and teaching Tae Kwon Do, and quality family time with my wife and two daughters.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a convert to the church, baptized when I was twenty-one. There is nothing that has brought me greater happiness in my life than my membership in this church. We worship Jesus Christ and have the fullness of his teachings and his authority on the Earth. Although this may sound like a bold statement, I have learned for myself through confirming thoughts ands feelings as I study the Bible and the Book of Mormon (Another testament of Jesus Christ), pray with sincere intent, and apply those teachings personally in my life. These teachings have increased my faith in Jesus Christ, provided knowledge of God's plan eternal for us, and personally makes me a much better person than I would be otherwise.

How I live my faith

Every day, I see the hand of God impacting my life in a postive way. I know that he personally knows and loves me as I try my best to become the person he wants me to be. Although I don't consider myself to be an example, I avoide alcohol, coffee and other stimulants; read my scriptures and pray daily; and serve and actively participate in my church activities. I have a long way to go in my journey, but most of all, l find trying to live the basic gospel principles to be the most effective way to invite the Spirit of Lord to influence and help me make the right decisions.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Scott
I love the Book of Mormon. It is another testament or witness of Jesus Christ, that he is God's son, and of his ultimate sacrifice of atoning for all of our sins, pains, and suffering, so that we can have the opportunity to return to live with our Heavenly Father again. For me, the Book of Mormon goes hand in hand with the Bible in explaining Christ's teachings, and it is written especially for us living on earth at this time. It confirms and supports the Bible's teachings, including filling in areas that have been changed or lost over the several centuries since originally written. Even more importantly it includes Christ's promise that those who read it and sincerely pray about it, will know of its truth by the Holy Ghost. I have personally tested that promise, received the confirming Spirit of Truth, and it has made all of the difference in my life. I know it can make the same difference in the lives of others.
