Hi I'm Sara

I'm a mom of 5 boys, a volunteer in my community and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a "stay at home" mom of 5 boys. When I'm not busy keeping up with the boys, I'm busy volunteering as the president of the governing board at the charter school my children attend. I spend many hours a year working with the school's administration and other board members to do the strategic planning, maintain the mission and vision of the school, mediate grievances, develop policies and procedures and provide leadership support and training for the leaders of the school community. I also spend a lot of time marketing the school and seeking large scale fundraising opportunities. It's been a huge committment that has been more of a fulfilling gift in my life than it has been work. I've been a web designer in my professional life and currently use those skills to help further the mission of the school I work with. I'm a teacher at church and in my free time I love to read all kinds of genres and do anything I can to be creative.

Why I am a Mormon

I have spent my life reading, studying, teaching and praying over the scriptures. I have questioned ‘with boldness’ whether what I believe is truth or fiction. I have dissected every aspect of the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints…questioned it all with boldness, searched and read and pondered and studied and studied some more…but mostly I prayed to receive a witness directly from God. I have experienced time and again a witness of the truthfulness of the things I have been taught. I have come to know without doubt that I have a loving Savior who suffered all things so that he could succor his people. I have come to know that Jesus Christ is the creator of this world, the master teacher and our one example – the way the truth and the light. It is only by him and through Him that we return to a loving Father in Heaven. I have come to learn that if I pattern my life after the Savior, I am happy and blessed. He is the center of my world, and the center of my testimony. He is the center of all things; the source of all light and the giver of all good gifts. I know my Savior lives! This testimony is strengthened and nurtured through my membership and activity in His church. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My faith is part of who I am and it penetrates into every aspect of my life. Every choice I make, every thing I do hopefully reflects that. We read scriptures at home, pray every day as a family and work to have a personal relationship with God. I strive to live with integrity and do all I can to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ every day of the week. At church I have had the opportunity to serve in many different ways. Most recently I taught a temple preparation course where I helped to prepare new members and those preparing for temple marriage, to enter into the Holy Temple. Prior to this responsibility, I had the opportunity to teach all those investigating the church and newly baptized members in Sunday School. We had the opportunity to cover all the basic principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a visiting teacher and my companion and I regularly visit with other LDS women where we talk about the daily grind of raising a family and all that keeps us busy. We have the opportunity to pray together and talk about our spirituality. My favorite service opportunity was when I was asked to teach the adult Sunday School class for several years and was able to dive in and really come to know and love the Bible, the Book of Mormon and gain a clearer understanding of the church's history and modern revelations.
