Hi I'm Cory

I grew up in Tempe, Arizona. I served an incredible mission in Chile. I married a wonderful woman named McKenzie. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up enjoying a lot of hobbies like playing a variety of sports, skateboarding, playing guitar, and enjoying video games. I also like to sing, but those around me prefer that I don't. I don't understand why, I sing great, I guess it just isn't heard that way. :) I married the most amazing woman just over a year ago. We currently have no children, but we look forward to parenthood in the near future. We were married in an LDS Temple where we were sealed for time and eternity. That means that we can continue to be together with our families after this life, not just during this life. I recently graduated from college with a BA in Spanish. My wife is currently finishing up her last year of nursing school. I am still unsure about which career path I would like to take, or if I should continue with my scholastic education. However, I have faith that God will help me make the right decisions in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me a greater happiness in this life and a hope that I can live with God again after this one. It is a happiness that can only be felt by living the commandments of Jesus Christ. Of course everyone can be happy, no matter your religion or situation, but this happiness is different. A person doesn't understand this difference until they find out for themselves. I always grew up as a Mormon. I am the youngest of six children, and all my siblings are practicing members. However, there comes a point in your life where you can't always believe or do the things that your family tells you to do. You have to figure it out for yourself. It was time for me to find out the truth for myself. I had several questions like; "Is God real? Is the Mormon church the true church? Is the Book of Mormon the word of God?" I finally decided that I needed to make the most important decision in my life, to find out if these things were true. I did receive my answer that this church is the true church on the earth. The key to receiving an answer is simply just being persistent and faithful. I had to continually read my scriptures and pray. One night in particular, I just had this overwhelming desire to know. I decided to start off by reading from the Book of Mormon. Next, I knelt down and said a very basic prayer asking if all of these things were true. This prayer was different though, as I had such a strong desire in my heart to really know if these things were true. Immediately, I felt this feeling... a feeling of great calmness and peace. It was an incredible experience and I know that every person can have a similar answer to their prayer. God wants us to know that His church has been restored on the earth! God loves all of his children, and when we ask Him with a true desire to know, He will most definitely tell us! It can come in many different ways, whether it be feelings or thoughts. You can have a surety that the answer will come for you too!

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon isn't just a religion, it's a way of life... and I wouldn't have it any other way! Every member of the church gives voluntary service by having a calling in the ward. I am currently a Ward Missionary, which means I accompany the full-time missionaries to different appointments. I help them teach these truths to others, just as I did as a full-time missionary in Chile. It's probably the best calling in the ward as there is nothing more I'd like to do other than help others learn about Jesus Christ. I would be selfish to receive such happiness and blessings, and not want to share it with those around me. I continually strive to follow the commandments God has given us. I attend church every week to learn more and become better. That is our goal, to make ourselves better, kinder, charitable, and more faithful. This is the beauty of the Mormon church!
