Hi I'm Tyson Mickelsen

I am a son, brother, and a marketing student. I love to read, swim, and go boating. And best of all, I am a Mormon.

About Me

Right now, I am a marketing student at Brigham Young University. I recently returned as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fortaleza, Brazil, and I loved every minute of it! Besides trying to become more like my Savior, I love to do anything and everything in the water. I like to go boating with my family, go waterskiing, surfing, and even tubing. I participated on the high school swim team, so I truly love the water. In my free time, I like to sit down with a good book or watch a movie.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born a Mormon, I still needed to discover for myself whether it was true or not. One event in particular helped push me towards that knowledge: and that was when my younger brother passed away due to a brain tumor when I was 13 years old. I remember watching my brother take his last breaths and the thought came into my mind, "You could be mad at God for not saving him, for not answering your prayers." I immediately pushed that thought away and decided that NO - God has a plan for him, for me, and for everyone on this earth. That choice to accept God's will has truly changed my life! Through this experience, I know firstly that God lives. He comforted me and my family. He loves us. Secondly, I knew for myself that FAMILIES ARE FOREVER. I will see my brother again after this life. I just need to do my best to keep the commandments! I am not a Mormon simply because it makes me happy, or because my family are members, or even because it's a "good" church. I am a Mormon because I knelt down and asked God myself if it was true. He answered me. It was a simple, explainable feeling. And if God answered my prayer, why couldn't He answer yours too? I promise that asking this question to God will forever change your life!

How I live my faith

One of my favorite scripture verses is in Matthew 6:24 - "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." This scripture answers exactly how I try to live my life. Every day, I try to become closer to Christ and serve Him with all my heart, mind, and strength. I hope who I am reflects my desire to become like Him. I am always grateful for the opportunity to serve the community, the church, and the Lord. I am so thankful for any opportunity to share what I know to be true and how the gospel of Jesus Christ has made me a better, happier person. It truly changes and transforms lives!
