Hi I'm Tyler

I grew up in Idaho, I enjoy rock climbing, mountain biking, and piano. I love life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I played football and ran hurdles in high school, but then as a student at a college in Idaho, I started rock climbing. I studied for a year there in the field of electronics technology. I love Mountain Biking, climbing, camping, skiing, snowboarding, you name it. I have a great family that really has been a huge support in my life, I love having cookouts with family and friends, and trips, I'm a big fan of kicking back and relaxing, but I also enjoy a good hard service project, or similar activities. I spent a lot of my youth really shy, not socializing much with others, yet in my junior year of high school, I began to branch out a bit, and never looked back, college has been a great experience for me to get learn and grow, and meet many new people that have changed my life. To sum it all up, I love life

Why I am a Mormon

I had the opportunity to be raised in this church, and have a great family, but there came a point where I decided that I didn't want to beleive the church was true just because my mom and dad said it was true, rather that I wanted to know for myself, independent of any other person. I took the promise left in the Book of Mormon to heart, the promise being that those who read it, and ponder its message, and ask God, with real intent, to know of its truth, that they would come to know it to be true. and really put it to the test. I read the Book of Mormon, and then prayed to know of its truth. as I did so, I had the impression, that I already knew that it was true, and that I shouldn't doubt it anymore. I then was able to look back at my life and see all the blessings God had placed in my life, and all the great things He had done for me. I knew then as I know now that the Book of Mormon was truly scripture revealed from God to his prophets, and that along with the Bible, it testified of Christ. And Joseph Smith, claimed to have translated the Book of Mormon, and I knew that God wouldn't give true scripture to a false prophet, therefore, Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet of God. and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Lord's church with His guidance and Authority. Knowing those things has changed my life, and I'll never look back. Its truly incredible. that's just a small piece of why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I believe that having a religion isn't restrictive in any way, In fact, I feel that the standards I've gained from the Church. I enjoy living life to the fullest, and feel that knowing that I am a child of God with limitless potential has helped me reach that perspective and joy in life. Right now, I'm spending some time in Washington sharing with others the blessings I've found in the church, and teaching them more about it.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Tyler
No, not at all, a mission is a very personal thing between the missionary and God, not all young people decide to go on a mission, wheather it may be because of health concerns or that they just don't have that desire, however it is encouraged because of the profound impact it has on the missionary, as well as the lives he or she is able to touch while serving. I couldn't imagine what I would do without my mission in my life, because of how much it has helped me to grow, learn, and become who God wants me to be. Show more Show less
