Hi I'm Kara

I have Narcolepsy, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been going to school to become a graphic designer. It's been difficult because I fall asleep a lot due to my Narcolepsy. I was diagnosed with this sleeping disorder at 13. Being Narcoleptic has been challenging, but my faith in Christ, and the support from those I love, has helped me get through it. I love my family, and friends. I love meeting new people. I'm often the first person with Narcolepsy that people meet. I grew up in Montana, and have a love for the beauty that surrounds me. I enjoy singing, and playing the violin. I like to eat good food, read good books, and take good naps. I'm always up for having fun, whether it's playing games, doing puzzles, learning a new skill, traveling, or just enjoying the outdoors. Life is good, and I am blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

As someone who has grown up in the church, my reason to continue to follow this gospel came over time. Every time I did something contrary to the commandments of God, I'd find myself being very unhappy. But when I would embrace the Atonement of Christ, and let the guilt and shame of my mistakes be taken away, I came to realize how much I need to have this as a central part of my life. The Love of God has come into my heart and changed me. I am who I am today because of my faith in Christ, and the Church helps me keep on that path. It is a wonderful feeling to be freed from sin. I recommend everyone to make it a part of their lives!

How I live my faith

One thing I love about church is singing the Hymns. I was able to conduct the music for our Sunday Meetings. It is so clear how much the Spirit of the Lord speaks through music. I have also been a big part in coordinating the young single adult activities in our area. It's always so much fun for us to get together. Many of my non-member friends have joined us for Ultimate Frisbee and other fun activites. It's a great way to spend time with those who have good values. It's so important to have friends that will support you in your decision to live the standards of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I've seen how much it makes a difference in being able to withstand the temptations that the world is so openly offering.
