Hi I'm Mike

I am a husband, father, sports enthusiast, history nut, kind of goofy, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoyed growing up near the ocean and all of the beauty of the area. I am the youngest of 5 children and I have a Developmentally Disabled brother and as a result, I have sensitivity for those who have Special Needs and their families. I understand very well the many challenges that these children provide. I have always loved sports, especially baseball and I enjoy watching the Colorado Rockies and watching my son play baseball each summer. I am married to a great woman and we have 5 children ranging in age from elementary school to college. While we are very busy running kids around to their various activities, we really enjoy spending time together. We love going pretty much anywhere together and we are usually laughing wherever we are. I have always loved U.S. History and our family enjoy's visiting various historical sites and we especially enjoy visiting Virginia and the Washington D.C. area where we have family. I suppose it is accurate to say that I am usually the happiest when I am doing something with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon household however we all need to receive our own witness of God's truth. As a teenager I became very focused on truly striving to know what my Heavenly Father wanted me to do and if the faith that I had grown up with was indeed true. I studied the Book of Mormon and prayed fervently for a period of time and while I felt at peace, I wanted a more sure witness that this book was true. I can tell you that in a very powerful, personal, and certain way, the Holy Ghost bore witness to my soul that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints contains the fullness of the Gospel. This experience has charted my course for life ever since and I have received countless confirmations of this as the years have progressed.

How I live my faith

While I am certainly far from perfect, I try to live the teachings of Jesus Christ by being honest, true, and helping others. I attend church each Sunday and I have served as a teacher for both youth and adults for many years. I love teaching about the scriptures and how they all relate to Jesus Christ. I love attending church with other people who are striving to become better. It strengthens me and provides me needed energy to endure the challenges of the coming week. Raising children is a humbling experience as they recognize all of your faults but it has been a great blessing to help them understand that we are children of a loving Heavenly Father and that his son, Jesus Christ, was sent to show us how to live and sacrificed Himself for us that through obedience to His teachings, we might be saved and enjoy everlasting joy in the presence of our Heavenly Father. It has been a blessing to see these children seek to have their own witness from the Holy Ghost that what they have been taught is true and to then have them recieve that witness is priceless. I have experienced challenges in life like anyone else but I have discovered that my faith in Jesus Christ and His restored Gospel has offered me strength and peace of mind as I endure these trials of life.
