Hi I'm Jason

I'm a Mormon. I'm a Teacher, Artist, Photographer, and Father to two great kids.

About Me

I am an artist, teacher, photographer, husband, and father. I love the outdoors, and staying fit. I enjoy sharing my hobbies and talents with my children and family. My family is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. Having two wonderful, creative, drastically different kids has challenged me to become a better man. I have been a glass blower, professional photographer and public artist for thirteen years. I have displayed in museums and galleries in Canada and the United States. I create sculptures and photographs mostly but love to learn and grow in new ways all the time.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon. I would not say that my family was particularly active or truly converted to the gospel. We went to church on most Sundays unless it conflicted with sports or an outdoor activity. We just went because that is what you do, go to church. In my early teen years it started to become more important to my parents. I hardly recognized the change but my father started demanding that our baseball team not play on Sundays so we could go to church. I just went along with it, it didn't seem odd to me. Church just felt like a social scene. In my later teens and after we moved to a small town the church started to become more important in all our lives. I gained my own testimony of the truth of it all. As a seminary student the instructor challenged us all to read a few verses in the Book of Mormon and then find out for our selves if it was true. She gave us a couple of great scriptures but the knowledge of it's truth had to come from us. I went through the motions of reading but never really prayed about it until I was 17. I did as she challenged us and prayed. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It is a support for the bible, not its replacement. Because i learned this I also know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church on the earth lead by prophets.

How I live my faith

I served a mission for the church when I was 19, then went to Brigham Young University in Hawaii. I married my sweet heart in the Temple and finished my education in Provo at Brigham Young University. Being surrounded by the true gospel helped me to gain a stronger testimony of its truth. I needed that strength to help me understand. Now I participate in my ward by serving in the Bishopric. I have been a teacher in the primary, in the young mens organization, and the most out of character calling was a ward financial clerk. The church has to be true if you call an artist to be a financial clerk and every audit works out great.
