Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a husband and father. I love to play basketball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 55 year old father and grandfather. My wife and I have been married for 33 years and have six children and eight grandchildren. I have an undergraduate degree in accounting. I work for a company that retails computer and software products . I play the guitar and enjoy music from the 70's. I play early morning basketball three times a week and have been playing all my life. I also enjoy playing tennis with my kids. I enjoy reading good books and have written a book about some of my personal experiences in hopes that I might help others.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have read and studied the Bible and Book of Mormon and asked God if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teachings are true. God has witnessed by the Holy Ghost to my heart and mind that they are true. Not just on one occassion but many times. Each person investigating the Mormon faith is encouraged to ask God in prayer and receive revelation for themselves whether the teachings are true. Everything that I have learned in the Book of Mormon leads me to Christ. I have found peace in following the teachings of the Savior and yearn to be like Him. I have come to understand how the atonement of Jesus Christ works in my life by providing healing and mercy so that I can repent of my sins and be clean. I know that God lives and that Jesus Christ lives and is a real being. I know that all those who seek him will find him. I promise that God answers sincere prayer if we are seeking. I also know that there are prophets and apostles on the earth today as there were in the time of Christ and that the Lord speaks to His prophets to bless all those on the earth today who are willing to listen. I know that the same Gospel that Christ organized anciently has been restored to the earth again with the very same priesthood, principles, and ordinances. The restoration was necessary due to an apostasy that occured after the original apostles were killed. I know that we can be sealed together as families through these ordinances and continue our family ties and relationships into the next life. It is through these teachings that I know where I came from, why I'm on earth and where I will go after this life. I know I can go to God in prayer and receive answers to my prayers. My faith and testimony is the most important thing in my life. It gives meaning and purpose to all that I am and all that I do. By folowing the teachings of Christ it makes me a better husband and father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in my family, church and community. I look to Jesus Christ as my example and try my best to be like Him. My family is the most important responsibility I have. I do my best to provide for them and try my best to set a good example and instruct and guide them spiritually. Spending quality time together is really important. My wife and children mean more to me than life itself. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we have no paid clergy. We are asked to take assignments and we can choose to accept or decline. I have served in many responsibilies including that of a teacher, a youth leader, a secretary, and as a Bishop. A Bishop is the spiritual leader of a congregation of approximately 400 people. Also, every member serves as a home or visiting teacher. We are assigned to visit other church members monthly and help them and support them. Some of the community service I have been involved in includes the collection of turkeys and money each Thanksgiving for the St Vincent De Paul food bank, feeding the homeless at a shelter, assisting the City with their July 4th celebration, and coaching little league. For three or four year I worked in a juvenile treatment center with at risk youth. There are many opportunities to serve others in our city and community if we but look for them. I believe the best way to serve God is to love and serve his children.
