Hi I'm Rebecca

I'm a daughter & a sister. I love learning and am constantly inspired by this beautiful world we live in. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

To me, there's nothing quite like being able to curl up in a cosy little nook somewhere & lose yourself in a good book. I love the rain, and the simple joy found in listening to it fall on a tin roof. When I'm able to find the time, I love to sketch & go hiking. I love the wild outdoors and am forever being inspired by it's unpredictability, and beauty. My family mean the world to me. I love spending time with them, and getting to know them even better. I love being with them, learning from them & listening to them laugh & tell stories. I enjoy learning about my family's history. I love that every new day brings with it the chance to learn something new, to do something a little better, to improve in some way.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of the church in 2005. It all started with a simple knock on our front door, that we answered to find two missionaries eager to share a message with us. After a number of discussions with them, I realized that the gospel was something that I wanted to know more about. The things that we were learning just felt right somehow, & I remember being impressed by the standards that were abided by in the gospel, & that the feeling in our home was noticeably different when they were there. They just brought with them such a sense of peace & happiness. After one particular lesson we had, I remember going to my room before bed & praying about it for the first time. Simply wanting to know if the things I was being taught were true. I woke the following morning, & I just remember feeling so happy. I had this incredible feeling of hope, & I knew that things were going to change, but that no matter what was going on in my life at the time, that everything was going to be ok. I had my answer. I knew that my Heavenly Father loved me, & wanted me to be happy. A few months later I was baptized, & a couple of years down the track, it's still the most important thing in my life. This way of life isn't always easy. There will always be trials & difficulties that lay ahead. And I think that that is one of the most important things I have come to realize. That those times aren't meant to break us. Going through the tough times & overcoming the trials is what makes us who we are. I know in my own life, when I look back, I can see how much I have changed. I can see that those tough times have helped me to learn so much, & often I am able use what I have learned to help others. The gospel gives me great comfort. Knowing that I can pray to my Heavenly Father, for help, guidance & comfort, gives me so much strength. Knowing that I as I follow His son, Jesus Christ, I can have true happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying, everyday, to do something a little better than the day before. By striving to be a better daughter, sister & friend. I have found so much strength & comfort in prayer. By building that relationship with my Heavenly Father, through reading & studying the scriptures, it is such a comfort to know that He's always there for me to turn to, whether things are good, or times are challenging. Life isn't always as easy as we sometimes hope it may be. But I know that as long as I'm doing the best I can, keeping the commandments & striving to emulate the life of my Savior, Jesus Christ, that my Heavenly Father will be there to help me through all of the challenges that come my way. I'm certainly not perfect in any one of these areas, but that's the beautiful thing about it all. The knowledge that I can change. There will always be so much more to learn, so many ways that I can do better, to better serve the people around me. I try to do the best I can in helping or serving the people around me. The more I try to set myself new goals, and be more willing to serve those in need, I find that it's the little things that become the big things. Some days it's enough just to make somebody smile, to call in & see a friend who is feeling down, or even to simply be ready to listen when someone needs to talk. I'm so grateful to know that I am a daughter of God, & to know of His love for me. Knowing that I can rely on Him always, to be there for me, & to help me through anything that I may be struggling with, gives me so much strength & courage. I look forward to my future, knowing that He will always be there for me.
