Hi I'm Mike

I'm a Mormon. I am a convert to the church. I have been a member for 35 years.

About Me

My wife and I have 3 wonderful daughters and 5 grandchildren. I enjoy being a grandpa and enjoy helping with our grandkids. After living my entire life in California I retired and we moved to Washington State to be near family. We enjoy watching the grandchildren progress and share in their joys in life. There is so much to do in this area. I love to ride my motorcycle, take walks, bike ride, explore our new area. After hot, hot, hot, growing up in California, I love the weather in the Seattle area. It doesn't rain as much here as I think they want you to believe. I think they start rumors to keep people from moving here.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has been an amazing way to live my life. I have an extended family where ever I go. When we moved to Washington we had an instant group of new friends to share our lives with. It is like we have known them all our lives. With so many others sharing the same life style it makes it easy to become friends. No matter where you go or who you are your life is touched by members of our church. People you work with, your neighbors and even people you meet on the street are members of our church.

How I live my faith

When I joined the church I was told I would never have to give a prayer in church, hold a calling, nor speak in church. 35 years later I am so glad they didn't hold up to that agreement. I have done all 3 and loved every minute of it. I have taught from the youngest children, to being a counselor to our Bishop. I have served on the High Council and spoken in church dozens of times. This church has helped me become the man that I am today and for this I am extremely thankful. Recently, I was asked to teach a Gospel class and I have enjoyed the class participation so much. I love to hear what the class members have to say and they teach me much more each week than I could ever teach them. We all work together to further our Heavenly Father's kingdom here upon the earth. It is truly a blessing to have this church to help me become a better person. We have been instructed to watch over one another and one way we do this is to visit our assigned families monthly. We call this Home Teaching and we take a message to share with the families. I really enjoy this opportunity. It is a way to build a loving relationship. It is a way to have us care for one another. The families learn we really do care about them and want the best for them. This is what our Heavenly Father wants for all of us. To care about each other as He cares about us.
