Hi I'm Joey

I'm here, I'm happy, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm going to school, studying graphic design. I really like art a ton! A lot of my time is spent hanging out with friends, playing sports like basketball, football, ultimate frisbee, or frasketball - a mixture of all three put together! I grew up in a pretty jumbled up family, with a brother, step brothers, and half sisters, who are all pretty awesome. We like to do lots of stuff together, like go on long road trips across the country and bike ride around the neighborhood and watch movies together. Even though I don't live near home any more, staying close to family and friends back home still matters a lot to me!

Why I am a Mormon

For me, the gospel of Jesus Christ has always been a point of stability in life. Regardless of what happens in life, the Lord is always there. I have seen, for myself, how I am happier when I live according to the commandments God has given His children than I am when I ignore them. Things as simple as going to Church, reading the scriptures, and praying can make all the difference in the way I feel about whatever is going on around me. Whenever I do any of those things, I can feel God's love for me, and I am comforted. Many People may have monumental events that have shaped the way they live their lives, but my conviction to follow Jesus Christ, and my testimony that this is where He wants me to be, result from many more subtle impressions that help me to know His will. Often times, I tend to over-think things, but I know that the message of the restored gospel is true because of the simple feelings I have received when reading in the scriptures, specifically the Book of Mormon, and praying to God in the name of Jesus Christ. These feelings can be hard to describe, but they are real. I have felt peace, comfort, joy, love, clarity of thought, and calm as I have tried to follow God's commandments, and when I receive these feelings, I know that what I am doing is right. By the same token, I know when I don't feel that way that what I am doing is not what God wants me to do. I follow His commandments because they bring happiness to my life. And that's why I'm a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by obeying the commandments. I know that I make mistakes. I mean, I'm not perfect, but that's okay. I think that I am here on Earth to become better, to develop my talents and skills, because when I do that, I am happy. I know that it is okay to be imperfect because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Thanks to our Savior, we can all be forgiven. Knowing that, I try my best to follow His example by studying His life every day.
