Hi I'm Jeff

I was born and raised in Hawaii. I've lived in Japan for about 5 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married with 3 children. I enjoy all sports, but as I get older, golf seems to be the sport most suited for my body. Watching my son play sports is beginning to be more enjoyable than playing myself. I went to college at Brigham Young University and studied Japanese. I've lived in Japan on 2 occasions. Once as a missionary for our church and once for work.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the church and was taught the gospel from an early age, but I still went through phases where poor choices led to negative consequences. I find that the more I adhere to the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the happier I am. This happiness is independent of the struggles that life has thrown my way throughout the years. Also, one of the main tenet of our religion is that families can be together forever. I love my family and this gives me hope of sustainable happiness in this life and the next. It also helps me work harder on the relationships with my wife and family in this life because forever is a long time to spend with someone if you don't like them.

How I live my faith

Currently, I have the opportunity to work with the youth of our church group. Although I am supposed to be there to help teach and guide these teenaged boys, I frequently find myself learning from their example. This generation of boys and girls are growing up in a time where there are a lot of temptations and distractions that could lead them away from spiritual matter, yet I am amazed that they choose to live righteous lives. As a parents, our primary goal is to help our family live righteously. One of the ways we try to do that is by having family gospel time every evening. This consists of about 10-20 minutes of reading the scriptures and discussing them. My children are only 7 (twins) and 6, but it's amazing how receptive young children are to the teachings of Christ. It's no wonder that the Lord has told us to be as little children.
