Hi I'm Kendra

I'm a Mormon. I've grown up in Colorado and I am working toward becoming a teacher for special education.

About Me

Since I'm a college kid I'll answer all the college questions first. I'm attending college working toward my degree in early childhood/special education. I'm the first of four siblings. I was born in California and ended up moving to Utah. All of my schooling up until college was done in Colorado. I enjoy sewing such as making blankets, pillows, quillows, crocheting, and cross stitching. One of the strangest things that have happened to me is when I went to the Denver aquarium. I was feeding the sting rays and one was really hungry so when I put my hand in the water the sting ray came up to me covered my hand, tries to get the minnow but ended up biting my hand. I enjoy outdoor activities with families and friends. I enjoy playing sports for fun and hanging out with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was around the age of 13 I wondered why I was going to church. Was I following in my parents foot steps or was I just going for the social part of church. After pondering this for a couple weeks I decided that I came to Church to learn of Christ and the friends and social life was a bonus. I came to love the gospel through study and living the gospel on my own and with my family. When I went to college I started to rely on Heavenly Father more and every time I prayed or was struggling in some way peace was always brought to my mind and to my heart. Even when the storms of life rage around me my Heavenly Father always keeps me calm and I can feel peace. I have never felt such a great peace in my life. I know that this gospel is true because I have tested it out for my self. I took the time to read the Book of Mormon to find out for myself that the Book of Mormon is true and if Joseph Smith was a prophet of God who translated the Book of Mormon. It was confirmed to me by the holy Ghost that Joseph Smith did indeed translate the Book of Mormon and was a prophet of God. There have been other times in my life that I have felt the Holy Ghost testify of the truth in my life and I'm grateful for Him. These are the reasons I'm a mormon.

How I live my faith

Ever since I have been 18 I have always visited a couple of girls every month to check up on them to see if there is any thing I can do to help them. On a daily bases I try to give one act of service to someone, even if I don't know them. The acts of service can be as simple as opening a door for someone or smiling to make someones day. If there is a need of any kind I try to find a way to fill the need. I have made blankets for girls in a youth correction facility and helped make dinners for women who have just had a baby. For the past couple of years I have visit a woman with RSD through out her whole body. I have gone to visit her weekly to check up and see how she is doing. She is restricted to bed because the RSD hurts her so bad and because her right leg doesn't work. My mom, sisters and I have taken her shopping for Christmas so that she had presents to give to her husband and uncle. We have continued to visit her weekly and have done anything we can to help her or her family.
