Hi I'm Don

I'm a father of 4 and I love my wife. We are best friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of 4. I enjoy water sports, backpacking, racket sports, and all kinds of activities. Fortunately my wife enjoys these things as well. I would love to learn to windsurf much better than I currently do. I have been involved in various businesses, most of my work was in the hearing aid industry. Church is an important part of my life and I have many close friends there. We have been blessed with a family and extended family that enjoys being with each other. Our kids love to visit with their cousins and when together I rarely if ever hear arguing. I know that may not be the norm today which is why I say we are blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

At the age of 18 my best friend through school died of cancer. It caused me to wonder about life and many things. I wondered where he was, was there life after this life, would I see him again, what would we look like ater this life, and other questions that I'm sure many wonder about as well. At the age of 20 I became aquainted with some young adults who were members of the Church. I began to attend and liked what I heard. After visiting with the missionaries and hearing what they had to teach they asked me to find out for myself if I thought they were teaching me truth. They challenged me to be baptized if I felt it was true. I thought about it, prayed, thought some more and I had a feeling it was all true. I knew this would be a difficult thing to explain to my parents and family, but I knew it was the right thing to do. I really had not been searching for a religion. I feel very fortunate that religion found me. 17 months later I was a missionary myself in Santiago Chile. Over the years I have learned much and felt the influence of the Holy Ghost who has helped me to know that I made the right decision years ago.

How I live my faith

I currently am the Bishop of our congregation and have been for about 4 years. I enjoy being involved in the lives of the other members and to visit with them and share some insights that hopefully help them in their lives. I have served in the Church in many positions, most of the time working with the youth who I enjoy being around. Sometimes they can be trying but I always remind myself that they are better than I was at their age. I try to encourge them and tell them that they can do anything in life, especially if they make good decisions. Each day I take some time to read from the scriptures. I enjoy reading from the Book of Mormon and the gospels in the New Testament. I must admit that I struggle with the Old Testament, but also enjoy many of the stories there. I pray each day and as a family we kneel together and pray at the beginning of the day and at the end as well as asking for blessings upon our meals. I believe it helps us to be close as a family.
