Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a husband and father to 3 boys. I'm a scientist working on developing effective vaccines against HIV and TB. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 12 years to an amazing woman. We have lived in Utah, California, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and now in Washington. We have 3 boys that are full of energy... I usually don't keep up with them. I have a great family - mom and dad, and an older brother and sister. I also have a younger sister that died last year while living in Australia. I really miss her. I love funny movies and then quoting them ad nauseum - just ask my wife. I enjoy running, skiing, golfing, and playing tag in the house with my boys.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ and raised me to be a Mormon. I have tried to live the teachings of the gospel in my own life and have felt the confirming witness of the Spirit (Holy Ghost) tell me it is true. I am a Mormon because I believe that Joseph Smith was called of God to be a prophet. He translated the Book of Mormon to be another testament (in addition to the Holy Bible) of Jesus Christ. He restored the organization of Christ's church and all things relating to the salvation of all of God's children.

How I live my faith

I try to teach my family the gospel of Jesus Christ and His perfect example of how to live a good life. I read the scriptures and pray to my Father in Heaven thanking Him for blessings and asking Him for help. I believe in prophets and apostles and I try to learn from them. I'm an active member of my congregation which meets together every Sunday. Currently in our congregation, I work with the young men (age 12-18). I try to teach them through lessons on Sundays and activities during the week. We do a lot of fun stuff together - hiking, camping, biking, and providing service to members in the community. Living my faith is very important to me because it teaches me to rely on the Savior and trust in His commandments.
