Hi I'm David

I am an Internet entrepreneur. I love snowboarding, flying and Texas BBQ. My wife and I have four sons. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I consider myself to be a lifelong social entrepreneur. (I like to create businesses to create jobs and opportunity for others.) I was born in Quito, Ecuador to parents that had been baptized years earlier while my they were living in Austin, TX attending the University of Texas. I will be forever grateful for their decision as it has had such a profound influence on my life. My mother was raised Catholic. My father was adopted by his parents, practicing Presbyterians, at an early age. I attended Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) in San Marcos, TX before and after serving a mission for my church in Torreon, Mexico. I met an married my wife after my mission and we have been married since 1991. We have four sons, the oldest will begin serving a two-year mission for the church in November 2011. My hobbies include, flying (I am a private pilot), horology (very fascinated with things that keep time) and kites. I consider myself to be a BBQ Pit-master, future competitions should affirm my belief. I have lived in and visited much of the world we inhabit. My travels have taken me from Ecuador to Maryland, Germany, Iran, Honduras, Texas, Mexico, Virginia, Taiwan, Washington, Utah, China, British Columbia and Alberta. I currently reside in Northwest Washington.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that by living the Gospel of Jesus Christ my life has been far less complicated than it would otherwise be. I was fortunate to have been born into the church and was baptized at the age of 8 in Tehran, Iran. While that was a very memorable experience, my true conversion would come years later. I was fourteen when I actually took to my knees after reading the Book of Mormon and New Testament. The confirmation I received at that time was indescribable and has remained with me to this date. It is this moment in time that keeps me motivated to follow the Savior when life's challenges come at me head on or when I am faced with temptation. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the through the atonement of Jesus Christ that I am able to have a relationship with my Heavenly Father. I love the Book of Mormon because it helps me to understand with greater clarity the gospel and our Father's plan for our happiness.

How I live my faith

Obedience to God's commandments is the only way to experience lasting happiness. I have seen this repeatedly in my life. While I am not perfect, I strive to make incremental improvements each day. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ as helped me to de-clutter my life. I firmly believe that is the simplest way to journey through life. I am active in the missionary efforts of our local Ward (congregation) in Blaine, Washington. It has been one of the most rewarding callings that I have had. (Well, there was that year in Springville, Utah when I got to teach the 11-year old primary class the Book of Mormon. . . or the time I spent working alongside my wife in nursery. . .) The more I ponder it, it has been all been a rewarding journey. There is great satisfaction and personal growth that comes from serving others through church callings.
